(CNS): There are 844 people currently in isolation, either in their own homes using geofencing technology or in government designated facilities. With the additional categories of property owners and people with family connection to residents being allowed in this month, the number of people returning has been steadily increasing but so far the numbers of these individuals testing positive for COVID-19 is relatively low.

No new positive cases of the virus were reported on Friday by Chief Medical Officer Dr John Lee, who said all 189 COVID-19 tests carried out over the last day were negative. There has been just one positive case this week in an asymptomatic traveller.

Currently there are 18 active cases of coronavirus, three of which are in people who are symptomatic. One person remains in hospital in a critical condition.

Some business already are in need of expatriates, so let them return.
We need the expatriates for the rents
Just test the ones that need to return and everything will be fine

  2. ELVIS says:

I hear so called isolators are actually milling around us all at supermarkets on the sly?
    HSA etc. looking into it?

Anonymous 2/11@7:21am – Curiously, what is the UV index of Brazil vis-a-vis its covid19 rates?

    • Anonymous says:

Correct, Covid19 developments in Brazil, Caribbean islands, not in the UK or France must followed.

Speaking of Brazil, who really knows what really is happening over there.

  4. Anonymous says:

Until Caymanians can figure out how to live off of the island and not off of expat money(like that’s gonna happen) they need to reopen or die. The expats with all the money that they have been living off of still have their lives and money but they can no longer spend it on Cayman so they will go elsewhere. In fact they are already out and spending. Just not here. Plan on This island being the last in line to to kickstart the economy.

Wow, money must be crying at your funeral. (like that’s gonna happen)

Just so you know, your arrogance is showing and at least 7 people are offended by it. Please tidy yourself in the bathroom down the hall or leave the establishment please.

The ultraviolet index in Cayman is the highest in April when it reaches 13.4 and lowest in December when it reaches 7.2.

The ultraviolet index in the UK: winter average: 0.2, spring average-3.6, summer average-5.6, fall average-2.0. Annual average-2.

UV light kills or deactivates many bacterias and viruses. Cayman natural environment is detrimental for viruses and bacterias-UV index is very high.

But wait, some viruses can actually kill bacteria, while others can fight against more dangerous viruses. There are known and documented (though very rare) cases of childhood viruses killing cancer.

❗️ So why does Cayman follow the UK COVID19 guidelines?
Why not see what is happening in the other Caribbean countries/territories? Apples to apples?!?

What about the fact that many still get flu and common cold in Cayman, you maight ask? Just tell me how much time people who got sick with flu and common cold spend outside, away from the healing sunlight? Do they get outside when they are sick?

Everything is good in moderation. Salt is the example. Too much would kill you, too little would affect your electrolytes balance and that could cause death. We are electrical being if you didn’t know, once electricity stops running ]through your body, you are as dead as it gets. Did you know that it is not rare to diagnose a person with stroke when in fact he has low electrolytes?

    but back to UV sunlight

Morning sunlight heals and absolutely safe, short exposure during “UV stage” of sunlight is essential for vitamin D production. 10 minutes daily is enough. Late afternoon sunlight is also safe.

So please someone tell CIG and Dr.Lee to stop following the UK when it comes to COVID19 management.

And before you contradict me with “ No association of COVID-19 transmission with temperature or UV radiation in Chinese cities” study, which is deeply flawed in my opinion, try to find in this study actual participants, time spent indoors and outdoors, time spent under different UV index. It didn’t even study real people.

The above mentioned study is an example why money is being wasted on meaningless studies that just clog internet and people’s minds.

You sound like you know what you’re talking about, why are you on CNS comments?!

  6. Anonymous says:

You could plan on living with the virus like most places. They have the virus but they also have a working economy so they will have a future as the virus is taking less than one out of a hundred that gets it. Or you can hide until the money runs out. Everyone knows what Caymanians will do.

Government needs to restrict outgoing travel to essential travel only. We cannot have residents taking vacations and other leisure trips because the cost is dealing with then when they inevitably want to return is enormous.

    • Anonymous says:

Is this what they are teaching you at home? You are an idiot.

    • Anonymous says:

You cannot have residents taking vacations and other leisure trips because you think it cost you too much money? Too funny. Where do you think all your money, food, and material comes from? West Bay? Better than that how about you self isolate from the rest of the world?

    • Anonymous says:

I am sorry but your comment is ridiculous. People who are going abroad are going at their own cost and returning to quarantine at their own cost! And if it is a work permit holder, then they must pay for quarantine.
We cannot continue to live in a bubble!! And many of us are going months without seeing family and straining our mental health by feeling locked up in this island.

      • Anon says:

Actually Caymanians and PR holders don’t pay for quarantine on their return. There have been people who have gone off island a number of times and not paid for quarantine, Govt has. If they want to upgrade to Palm Heights or the Ritz, then yes they pay for it

    • Anonymous says:

You really have no idea how much it cost to go and stay on Cayman for vacation and yet thousands used to do it. This is how Cayman use to get its money. Now no open borders no money. Go back to your little bubble and don’t come out. Covid, flu, Diabetes, and Zika are at your doorstep.

    • Anonymous says:

I would like to know now many people is isolated/locked uo in Hotels at Government expenses ?, and how long before government expect to get that money back in dutie ?. So do it make sense for Government to pay that bill.

      • Anonymous says:

Can we get that in English with proper spelling and grammar? This is why international companies cannot employ people without a proper education. Written communication is vital when dealing with clients outside the Caribbean.

  8. Anonymous says:

And yet again, the handful of Americans who own homes on Cayman Brac/Little Cayman are not allowed to travel down here.

Seems to me that with all the Government employees on Brac/Little that Mo$e$ and Juju would be able to figure out a plan to monitor the property owners.

Seems to me that you would fly into Grand Cayman, do all the screening, be escorted to plan going to Brac/Little, and then be escorted to your house – or is that just using common sense and me making it too simple?

    • Anonymous says:

Are you coming on private plane? Because if you have Covid, you’ll be exposing everyone on the plane to it. You know the residents travelling back and forth between Little Cayman/Cayman Brac and Grand Cayman.

  9. Gray Matter says:

    All coming on British Airways.

  10. Anonymous says:

We need to start doing departure airport Covid screening at both the US and the UK departure airports as infection rates are climbing rapidly in both places. That is the only way to keep the importation of Covid at a minimum.

    • Anonymous says:

Departure screening is the #1 step in preventing imported cases. I can’t figure out why CIG isn’t putting that in place.

  11. Anonymous says:

Just how much capacity does CIG have to contain more incoming travelers? Regardless if some are in home isolation. Hmm – perhaps pause new arrivals until many more in quarantine are released? Wonder if they’ve thought of that obvious approach?

Can’t see any reason to keep accepting new arrivals for now anyway, when all current arrival locations are rampant with covid19 and surging?? Protect our bubble!!

    • Anonymous says:

Cayman is the only country in the Caribbean not requiring pre-flight COVID Testing. Logically, if it is your job to protect the people from COVID, why doesnt Dr. Lee prevent infected people from landing here? (like everyone else does). The number of people arriving infected would drop a lot and then the Leadership could maybe focus a plan to reopen like all the other UK territories in the region?

  12. Anonymous says:

I thought they were only allowing 800 people to return in October?

  13. Anonymous says:

I can’t understand why people from England are being allowed when the virus is so rampant there??? They are even locking down several places!!!

    • Fellow dimwit says:

8.34am Quite right we should cancel all the BA flights, leave all our students stranded over there, and just concentrate on CAL’s flights from Miami where Covid has never been rampant.

      • Anonymous says:

3:20 you are a dimwit because not all who have come are students. Students traveling home is one thing but it is another having all these random travelers catching the air bridge over. It should not be happening. Especially now that the Uk is back in lockdown

        • Anonymous says:

Random travellers? People who just decide to come here for no good reason, and put up with 14 days quarantine for it? Think I know who the dimwit is, and it isnt 3:20

    • Anon says:

The virus is rampant in the US as well, just because they aren’t locking down doesn’t mean they are any better coming here than from the UK

  14. Anonymous says:

I’m in isolation and confirm that I am indeed high. Luckily for me, delivery is permissible.

  15. Anonymous says:

    So BA was COVID free

  16. John Smith says:

What you mean there is a possible alternative to lockdown? Who would have thought! Not our genius government. Maybe now they will see with a comprehensive plan, diligently executed, the island can reopen.
