Daily COVID test results all negative

(CNS): All of the 243 COVID-19 test samples processed by public health officials over the last 24 hours were negative, Chief Medical Officer Dr John Lee reported Wednesday. Cayman remains free of any active cases of the coronavirus and has had no positive results for five weeks. To date, 30,900 tests have been carried out with a positive tally of 203.

While government has successfully contained the virus within the domestic sphere after a strict lockdown was imposed with positive results, it has remained tight-lipped over the last few weeks about previously announced plans for a soft opening of borders.

Some destinations around the Caribbean region have opened but in doing so exposed themselves to surges in infection rates and most have shut back down. Cayman had planned to begin welcoming some vacation home owners back next month with the assistance of bio-button technology but it is understood that this may have been delayed.

Cabinet was believed to be meeting yesterday to discuss, among other things, the reopening plans, but there were no announcements about the opening and no date has been set for the next COVID-19 update briefing.

We are safe. Let’s stay closed. These few high income people can quarantine at a facility if they want to be here. No five day loosey goosey bio button crud. We are 5 weeks Covid free. That is a draw in and of its self. Why sell out our Island for a couple of rich people, and put all of us at risk? It is just a few greedy pols. The incoming persons will not help the average Caymanian, nor the average business. STAY CLOSED. Have a pair. Do the right thing!

Annie – you are completely wrong. The vast majority of companies in Cayman rely heavily on tourism. Even AC companies rely mostly on tourism. The Cayman economy is in the process of crashing, and idiots like you are too stupid to see all the thousands of unemployed struggling to pay their bills. And the government will lay off all the useless civil servants once they have no tax revenue because the borders and tourism is shut.

Mask for this reason – I will insult anyone who comes near me without a mask. If anyone tries to get physical when I insult them I will deal accordingly…on the spot!! I’m a high risk person and I have every right to come and go as and where my needs require. Unmasked morons have NO right to endanger me.

So, if that applies to you — who the cap fits!!

Sweden is over the virus. No lockdown, no economic disaster. Meanwhile Cayman is stuck in its bubble. Good luck.

4:08 we do not know if we are virus free because they are still testing the same people over and over. HSA isn’t even responding to people who are seeking an appointment to be tested. For all we know there could be several people out there who are asymptomatic. They have just eased up on testing to suit their narrative of Cayman being Covid free so that high end foreigners can pay to come here in September.

Okay don’t wear a mask. See how well that has worked for Texas, Florida and Georgia. Yes it is annoying to wear a mask. I wear glasses, they are constantly fogged, it truly stinks. But, did you stop and think that maybe, just maybe the reason we are Covid free is because we have been so strict with mask wearing? Wear your mask, stop whining and be grateful that we are not Florida.

Now that we are Covid free can we please get rid of the requirement to wear masks in the stores? I mean, I doubt the party boaters are wearing masks…

KEEP MASK ON. What needs to be done is to shut down those establishments that permit clients to be inside or outside without mask. And yes I am specifically referring to bars. I know the hate messages will be many, but I could give a rats-ass. ALCOHOL and RULES do not mix.

And we may be on a roll with negative test, but if we for one minute believe that the virus isn’t still present in this country- we are lying to ourselves.

Ridiculous. Its safe to demask, no one in Cayman has it anymore. They are packing people like sardines into nightclubs I’m pretty sure you can go to the grocery store and be just fine.

Still no post office though, oh and a ridiculous two week delay in half our children being allowed to attend school. A discrimination suit is in the works.

The return to school is a phased approach. And how is the post supposed to work with closed borders? You sound like an angry hater that itches for something to complain about. Whatever lawsuit you’re talking about will be tossed out by a laughing magistrate. 😄

Completely agree on the RIDICULOUS phased approach for school re-opening. What is this actually accomplishing, except for frustrating students, parents and educators?

All the kids have been in camps, at play dates, at birthday parties and otherwise interacting and socializing all summer long. There is so much fear and inability to THINK around what should happen at schools. So, bars are open with no masks but my six year old is supposed to wear a mask for 6 hours a day in class? Makes no sense!

Exactly 10:00! No social distancing among children for the entire summer and then they go to school in September and have to mask up!!!! Let’s hope government sets up a plan for schools which is sensible!

Mask your mongrels and protect the teachers. You bunch of ingrates obviously have no understanding of rules and protective measures if you were disobeying laws, having sleepovers during lock down, and having your spawn hanging out all Summer.
