Cayman clears 4th week with no COVID-19 cases

| 07/08/2020 | 57 Comments

(CNS): Chief Medical Officer Dr John Lee confirmed Friday that all of the 191 COVID-19 tests carried out over the last day were all negative. Cayman has now cleared four weeks without a positive test and has no active cases. To date, officials have carried 31,299 tests and recorded only 203 positive cases of the coronavirus. Over 2,000 antibody tests have also been conducted with 54 positive results.

Between the Health Services Authority and Health City Cayman Islands, lab technicians have processed 2,096 antibody tests and 2.6% of those samples found coronavirus antibodies.

Of the 54 people who have antibodies, 36 previously had a positive PCR test for COVID-19, six of them were contacts of previous PCR positive people and four had a travel history abroad in recent months, where they may have contracted the virus. Just eight of them had no identified COVID-19 contact history.

For those at high-risk, continue with multi-stringent measures.

However, the virus will never be eliminated from the world and the death rate is lower than the common flu.

I read that 2 people died for every 3 people that COVID killed due to COVID countermeasures including the lockdown.

How many more days of zero positives do we need before we can go back to life without masks?

The death rate from Covid-19 has never been anywhere near that of the seasonal flu. The seasonal flu in a country which measures such things, such as the U.S., is usually between .01 and 1%. It is rare to get to the 1% zone, but is has happened.

Covid-19 mortality in the U.S. remains around 3.5%. That may not sounds like much, but if it continues to spread throughout the population without any mitigating factors, it could result in 3-4 million dead.

Your primary desire seems to be a tad selfish. It is those very measures imposed by the government that have us arrived at this point, safely and mostly free from the virus.

Is it really SO much of a bother? I do construction, often in peoples homes. I wear a mask. I don’t think I am a risk to anyone, nor them to me, however it cost so very little to be careful.

If everyone here had been tested, and that testing compulsory, it would be different. They’ve tested about 60% of us. I know of two people who refused testing. Why do you suppose they would do that?

          No, it is not.

At last count, there were 5,167,984 people tested positive. Of those, 165,275 have died of the virus or complications exacerbated by the virus.

3.5% is 180,979. 3% is 155,039, so my 3.5% is a tad high, but not much. NOWHERE near .35%. .35% is, however near the seasonal flu death rate in the U.S.

I admit that I used the U.S. because it remains the worst case, however the global picture is not much different.

It is closer to .35% my friend. By your calculation, we should have had 6 or 7 deaths (200*3.5%) here in the Cayman Islands due to COVID if we were statistically normal instead of the Italian cruise ship heart attack victim (200*.35%=.7 people).

From a USA Today article, the range of estimates put the fatality rate for those showing symptoms between 0.2%-1%, with a “best estimate” of 0.4%.

It also places the number of asymptomatic cases between 20%-50%, with a “best estimate” of 35%.

By combining the two estimates, the estimated overall fatality rate of those infected with the virus – with and without symptoms – would be 0.26%.

It is also a problem that this virus is a political issue and the famous agencies “in charge” have been co-opted by “Big Pharma” special interests and is being pushed by a media that has an agenda that is not benevolent (not you CNS).

These same special interests falsely claim that vaccines are safe and effective. Since 1986, pharmaceutical companies that create and distribute vaccines have been exempt from lawsuits due to injury or death caused by their “safe” vaccines. If they are safe, why were they granted an exemption from liability?

We have seen an incredible rise in autism and similar disorders since the increase in vaccinations that were nearly unheard of 100 years ago. Do you really believe these cases are “genetic” or do you believe it might be linked with the increased use of vaccines?

COVID was weaponized and should be considered a crime against humanity. The famous Dr. Fauci directed millions of dollars to the WUHAN lab in China to upgrade the virus because this practice is illegal in the USA and should be everywhere in the world.

Many frontline doctors are touting hydroxychloroquine, zinc and an antibiotic as very effective at curing COVID patients with a reported success rate of over 90% if administered to a patient in the early stages of the illness. Why is this information being censored and actively fought by BIG PHARMA?

Could it be because BIG PHARMA and their controlled organizations like WHO, CDC and NIH won’t make any money off hydroxychloroquine because it has been around for 65+ years and the patent has expired so it is a cheap effective drug. Or is it because they are genuinely concerned about our health?

If they are genuinely concerned about our health, I wonder why they are not promoting building up people’s own immune systems through nutritional supplementation. Is it possible that it will hurt their bottom line?

Here is a link to a discussion between a retired M.D. and a naturopath that provides an alternative perspective on the subject.

They have not tested 60% of us. Around 16500 mark (25%) of us, they made it very clear that the test numbers started including RETESTS of the SAME people over and over again. Please pay attention and get your facts correct.

Yeah. Last statement I saw from Dr Lee on this – last press conference I think – he said that the latest figures were only 10 % retests. Be interesting to know where we are now.

I’m curious. Excluding deals where a contract existed prior to lock down, what is the value of real estate deals initiated and closed post lockdown? I mean everyone is so happy the government has done a great job. Do you realize the true value of your home is likely down 25%? Cayman suffers from having an abundance of privilege. Wealthy persons who don’t need to work. They comment when a favorite restaurant closes. So sad, where shall I order from now? Never mind all those who’ve lost their jobs and don’t need to know about restaurant closures. The staycations will end once school fees are due. The government has no plan and has proven it has no balanced approach. Proudly displaying the field hospitals. Maintaining government quarantine facilties. Our immediate neighbors, Cuba, Honduras and Jamaica are well ahead of us. If anyone thinks our airport is opening up in October, you are delusional. Our airport is far more likely to remain closed till next year. Not because it should be, but because the government is simply incapable of striking a balanced approached. They can’t do it with human rights and they can not do it with health and economics.

So, can we be confident that these negative test results are even accurate? I have seen news stories of individuals stating that after experiencing symptoms, getting tested And receiving negative results (on more than one occasion) later antibody tests for the virus returned positive results, Just research it, I’m sure you will find news stories and interviews of people with that experience,

I was curious about this as well. I saw Alyssa Milano mention that this happened to her. She had the exact same symptoms as Chris Cuomuo (worse than him in fact) yet she tested negative, twice! Once she did the antibody test it revealed that she did in fact have the virus at some point.

This virus is truly something else. What do we do know, is that we know nothing.

The 116 in quarantine who flew in from abroad. Don’t understand why none have tested positive. How is it possible these people have not tested positive given the virus is ravishing other countries? Indeed, this is a major reason for quarantine in government facilities. Such persons cannot be trusted because of the likelihood of them not only having the virus, but of them willfully putting others at risk because they lack the discipline of quarantining at home. And for those of you who think the system is changing on September 1st you’re going to be sadly mistaken.

How can you ask ” Why they don’t have it ”
The dance of one case out of the 116 people is less than 1%. 20M cases out of a global population of 7.8 Billion is nothing AND out of the 20 million cases there is only 6 million on the planet active.
The chances of a person having it are slim and the chances of them brining it in are very slim if you pre test than isolate for 5 days and test again.

AND if you look at the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos it is the locals that have caused the new outbreaks Not the tourists! Both countries governments have been clear on this.

8:18 You are 100% correct. The 116 comment merely highlights the insanity of our actions. Both in terms of unfounded fear and draconian measures. We are the only country in the world that doesn’t allow persons to quarantine at home. And yet the majority of the people agree with what is being done. I can guarantee not one needs to work for a living. And that is why, despite all the facts and alternative choices the airport will remain closed. At least now they have set some dates of travel. Something I suggested on this site in April. The real reason they aren’t opening in September has nothing to do with the US but their complete inability to execute a plan of reopening. Why not open to other countries? Why even fly into the US?

Because the testing is not random enough or statistically sufficient to determine that we have indeed rid ourselves of the virus. Further effort and patience is required. Hopefully we can get the all clear by the end of the month and declare ourselves Covid free.

Then the planes will start coming with no enforced quarantine and we will be back to square one with our kids at home and all offices and non essential businesses closed.

The trouble with people like you is you need to have people tested positive to justify your disposition. You are one of those who think the only time one gets covid is on the plane. Therefore, the first or second tests are irrelevant. Perhaps because the virus isn’t ravishing us is why you are so angry. What happens in five days and no positives? Are you going to apologize?

Who indicate that they think COVID can only be caught on the plane? People could be infected at home from family members, at a restaurant, at work, in the taxi to the airport, waiting around at the airport, etc etc. A lot can happen between their initial travel test and them getting on a plane to come here. If they test negative then thats great, no apology is warranted. The person was clearly stating that they have yet to have their final test to be cleared, so you cannot say they do not have it as yet.

Get off your high horse – and by the way, it is people like you who think you can’t get the virus. Will you apologies to those who you belittled if you do?
