Ganja found on Cayman Brac beach

(CNS): Customs and Border Control officers on patrol on South Side East Road in Cayman Brac this morning came across a ganja package that had washed ashore. The officers called the police around 8am Wednesday to report the find. When the police arrived they recovered the taped up package, which was found to contain some 2lbs of drugs.

Both the CBC and RCIPS officers conducted further searches of the area but nothing else was found.

Back in the day, can’t remember the exact date, but probably mid 80s, a huge bale ( and I mean HUGE) of ganja floated up to my folks’ home in Old Man Bay. They differed on what to do, but ultimately alerted the authorities. This story reminded me of this family memory.

It’s illegal because it’s scheduled as having no recognizrd medical benefits yet we’ve imported the oil for years. Why can’t we Caymanians grow the oil and make the medicines ourself instead of importing? Don’twworry about duty tax, there’s revenue and opportunities in agricultural, retail, export, tourism, medicinal industries. I would love a part time job trimming Cannabis plants.

The only people still opposing Cannabis is great grandma Bodden who bought into the Devil’s lettuce propaganda in the 1960s. Somehow , imported tobacco laced with nicotine is allowed on government property and I can borderline overdose on toxic alcohol and throw up the night before work.

Chill and remain positive, Cayman will be forced allow legalisation as other first world countries have done.
