Biker caught by the RCIPS on Saturday, 4 April

(CNS): Residents in Newlands as well as police officers all appeared to forget the social distancing rules when the public came out to watch the police chase a rogue biker on Saturday. Dozens of officers were involved in the arrest of the 23 year-old man from Bodden Town after he crashed the bike into the road block set up during the pursuit in North Sound Estates.

The dirt bike chase was captured on video, which has been circulating on social media, and shows the amount of police resources deployed to arrest the rogue rider, including the police helicopter.

The man was arrested for breach of curfew, dangerous driving, and several other traffic offenses. Meanwhile, a 23 year old woman was also arrested on suspicion of breach of curfew and obstructing police, in connection with the same incident.

I knew it would come to this, its like you can predict the future with some of these guys, another one bites the dust, i saw him on milton drive with his friends with the blue bmw smoking weed 24/7, up to no good , wondering how long unit it came to this. it’s sad because these people are the future of the island.

They’re not the future. Do not be confused. They will be dead within the decade or incarcerated.

There are always more productive things to do than riding a motor bike. And at the end of the day, should it be your reprieve in life then do so responsibly. We do have responsible riders out there but clearly those people are few and far apart.

I smoke weed too but make $6k KYD a month and ride a legal dirt bike. I don’t do dangerous stunts or any of that foolishness.

Please don’t generalize to say all weed smokers are wasting their lives. Even Alden said that alcohol can be seriously abused but he drinks responsibly. Yet you can overdose on alcohol but not weed!

Well done my ass. The damn officer closed line the boy off the motorbike. What kind of false news is this? Have you all not seen the videos? Have you not seen the excessive force and brutality? I DO NOT and let me repeat I DO NOT CONDONE this young mans behavior but as law enforcement shouldn’t we set better examples. Most of these young men call the police pigs. How do we fix this, how do we bridge the gap? Look at the way the officers jumped on this young man after he was on the ground. How the bike police ran in and began to ring his arm. Come on man this can’t be right!

The police are upset he bruised there ego when in reality they should try to learn a few things from them. Who have they hurt? Who have they killed? Who have they robbed? Where do they go to ride? Every where is either developing or owned. Where is Jays mal pit and the race track? Stop being ignorant and let’s find a solution.

    • BTC is King says:

      Dear Sir,

      1. The officer did indeed clothesline the 23 year old man (he is no longer a boy at 23), and he did a very good job of it.

      2. What about the short article do you consider to be “false news”? And where do you see excessive force and brutality? It was a clean, safe takedown. An awesome takedown. Wish we could have had a better view of it. Whoever administered it, should teach it to all the other constables.

      3. You do indeed CONDONE the man’s behaviour by questioning a very legitimate and clean arrest. Did you want the constables to softly whisper into his ear to ask him to come off his bike instead or would you have preferred that they had provided him with a soft mattress and fluffy pillows for him to land on, with crème soufflé for desert?

      4. Perhaps this young men and others should not be calling the police pigs. Perhaps you and others ought to teach them that it’s important to respect the police.

      5. How do you fix it and bridge the gap? Easy. It’s called parenting. It’s called raising your child with love, discipline and respect. It’s called teaching your child right from wrong. It’s called teaching your child that there are consequences to their actions. This person obviously learned none of those – and apparently, neither did you.

      6. The officers jumped on him because prior to him being tackled, he demonstrated poor decision-making skills…and, therefore, by jumping on him, the officers guided him to the right decision.

      7. The police were not at all upset. They showed great restraint. In fact, I probably would have provided him with a good trashing so that next time he remembers not to endanger the lives of others. It’s a good thing that I am not a police constable.

      8. Where do they get to ride? Well first of all, what part of LOCKDOWN did you not understand…or what part of ESSENTIAL travel did you not understand? Secondly, he can ride on his PS4, like everyone else is doing at this time. And if you’re going to play live Grand Theft Auto, be prepared to pay the price.

      9. “Stop being ignorant…” Perhaps you ought to learn to take your own advice.

Hope this answers all your questions.

      Kind regards.

So, right now, we all have nowhere to go and let off steam. Should we all take to the roads with reckless and illegal behaviour? Surely you can see that suggesting people don’t have an outlet is ridiculous. These boys do this all the time because they get away with it too often. Helmetless wheelying through GT with cruise shippers on the street. Once in a while one gets caught and here his behaviour created this situation.

Wow, you’re unbelievable. I may have read the story wrong but I think the boy was 23?

In any case it is clear to see that while on the ground he resisted the cuffs. Had he just put his hands behind his back as instructed that would have been the end of it.

Also how do you expect the police to stop someone that doesn’t listen? Should we all now evade police and when we get caught expect them to treat us with kid gloves?

You are part of the problem. I hope you aren’t raising your children, if you have any, to follow your belief system.

The officer should have some whatever it took to stop someone that was engaged in an act that could have killed anyone on the road. Lucky they didn’t do more. And you can see from the video that he didn’t put his hands behind his back. That was an additional defiant act and caused more struggle.

Caymanian, in particular since things like passports, date of birth, and who your daddy thinks he is are not relevant considerations. I stand by my assertion. The RCIP do not have mechanisms to determine accurately whether persons are Caymanian or not, and ought refer that question to the relevant authorities each and every time someone is to be charged.
