Miss Jamaica Toni-Ann Singh crowned 2019 Miss World

(CNS): For the first time in the history of international beauty pageants black women now hold the two top crowns after Miss Jamaica Toni-Ann Singh won the 69th Miss World contest in London on Saturday, just a week after Miss South Africa took the Miss Universe title. Singh (23) from St Thomas, Jamaica, who is studying to be a doctor, beat France’s Ophély Mézino and Suman Rao from India who were the runners up.

The Jamaican beauty queen received the crown from the outgoing Miss World, Vanessa Ponce de Leòn of Mexico, wrapping up the pageant season for 2019. It is the fourth time that Miss Jamaica has taken the top tiara.

The Cayman Islands was represented by Jaci Patrick (24) from West Bay, who had her moment on the stage in national dress but did not qualify for the top 30.

Cayman was once a parish of Jamaica and its first settlers came from Jamaica during 1661-71. anyways congrats to her and wish her all the best…. much needs to be done to unify us as a region.

I met her. She is a real beauty. I’ve always said Caymanian women can learn alot from Jamaican women. They are our neighbors and … status, beauty, politics, crime, and gossips should not get in the way of our long ago heritage and culture. Caymanians, we are losing our culture for U.S., UK, and foreign influences.

@7:39 sums up the narrow, parochial and xenophobic attitude, which illustrates that while we are a prosperous country (with a caveat and sensitivity to the many that are now living below the poverty line), we are still shackled by our mindsets in limiting ourselves by these self-imposed nationalistic nonsense, especially in 2020.

I’m sure if Ms. Cayman, who’s a very intelligent and beautiful young lady, name wasn’t Bodden, then you might say that she is not Caymanian enough and go on to dissect her generational tree.

Maybe you should embarse some positive energy from Ms. Nigeria!

We’ll at least jaci is a born and raised caymanian, who in spite of all the jealousy and discrimination aimed at her culture, continues to carry herself to the highest standard with pride whenever she represents the Cayman Islands. She has also lived her entire life here, and returned home after her study overseas. The headline should’ve really read –
“Jamaican born US citizen/Resident wins miss world “.

Bad mind is a serious disease. As far as the article said she is studying medicine. We now have i think 3 or 4 Miss World’s and countless top 5 placings. Big up Jaci… and i hope you burn out the bad mind people that are following you.

You really have a chip on your shoulder don’t you!
People like you enjoy being miserable and having something to moan about.
Take a leaf out of Miss Nigeria’s book and celebrate the victory for the Caribbean.
Try being happy, you never know you might even like it
