Climate report notes 7th year of sea level rise

Cayman News Service

(CNS): One of the many alarming points in the latest climate report from the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society, scientists found that for the seventh year in a row sea levels rose in 2018 and the greenhouse gases released into the Earth’s atmosphere reached record levels. Also ringing the climate alarm bells in the State of the Climate in 2018, last year was the fourth-warmest year on record behind 2015, 2016 and 2017.

“Every year since the start of the 21st Century has been warmer than the 1981-2010 average,” the report said. “In 2018, the dominant greenhouse gases released into Earth’s atmosphere — carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide — continued to increase and reach new record highs.

“Global carbon dioxide concentrations, which represent the bulk of the gases’ warming power, rose during 2018 to a record 407.4 parts per million,” the study found. That is “the highest in the modern instrumental record and in ice core records dating back 800,000 years,” the researchers stated.

The news that sea levels have risen again should be of particular concern to the authorities here in the Cayman Islands. Across the world’s oceans, warming was worst in the tropics, with the annual mean sea level reaching a new record high, rising to 81mm above the 1993 average. “The new high reflects an ongoing trend …and year-to-year changes in sea level impact coastal communities by increasing the magnitude and frequency of positive sea level extremes that cause flooding and erosion,” the report warned.

Over the last decade, the global ocean has continued to take up a substantial fraction of anthropogenic carbon, and while the sea is expected to continue being a sink for carbon, mitigating the worst impact, it comes at a cost of increased acidification of surface and subsurface waters.

The report said that most of the Caribbean recorded above-average annual surface temperatures, particularly notable toward the northwest, with Jamaica and the northern Bahamas at least 0.75°–1.5°C warmer than average. The annual average maximum temperature of 32.3°C observed in Jamaica was the highest since records began in 1971. The Caribbean as a whole was also drier than normal, with drought conditions reported by several islands.

These articles really bring out the stupidity in caymanians, I thought we were brighter than that having one of the highest standards of living in the Caribbean. Never understand why some of you try to make global warming political or an agenda of some sort. It’s literally what is happening to the Earth caused by our mistreatment to the Earth. Other’s saying it’s Natural. These level of climate change has never occured in the span of 50 years. This usually takes millions of years.

The sooner you pull your heads out of your asses and stop thinking we’re trying to tax you or whatever fear mongering you’re trying to instill the faster we can come together to put a plan and help create a better planet. Honestly it’s not like we can hop ship and go to another planet, so the least we can do it take care of it.

Isn’t it sad when someone who thinks they are so in with what Jesus taught only proves what a hypocritical ass they really are? I’d like to know how you think liberals with their policy’s to actually take care of humans, earth and not the wealthy is less righteous then your right wingbat ideology. I’d rather have an atheists who is honest about their beliefs on my side then a conceded, condescending Bible thumper who hides their selfishness by praying in a pew. Also, I know many liberal god fearing humans. I’d rather them on my side too as they actually understand what the basics of their religion was teaching.

There is a reason these Global Warmers do not EVER want to answer any specific questions. Their answer to anyone that questions them and their religion is always to attempt to discredit the person so to evade having to do so.

Even the most fundamental and basic questions. For example….

(And there are hundreds of these fundamental questions BTW)

    ========

If the temperature is going from good to bad unnaturally (or from optimal to non-optimal), then you MUST therefore know what the optimum natural temperature IS. (without the alleged human interference).

    ========

Logic 1-0-1: You can say someone is doing something bad, what unless you know what doing good is.

But they do not have or want to address this question and 100’s like them. There is a REASON for this. And it’s not called science.

And everyone should ask why they (the 97%) can’t or won’t answer that, and many other very basic questions.

Here is a video of a NASA >>”scientist”<< even refusing to engage ANY questions and walks off the stage in between discussions. how pathetic is this????

“We believe the claims by NASA and GISS, that man-made carbon dioxide is having a catastrophic impact on global climate change are not substantiated.”

Anyone that has lived on the ocean for many decades, knows significant sea level rises in the last century rise is total and complete demonstrable bullshit.

They bank on selling their bullshit that most people will just swallow this type of pap because they have not lived most of the lives on the ocean studying tides, currents and water levels in shallow waters.

The claims that sea levels have risen 20 millimeters since 1900 is a lie. Period. It would even be a lie to say it has risen even 1/4 of that.

What has risen is the level of BULLSHIT and the TAXES around global warming and sea level rises.

The sea level around Hilo Bay, Hawaii, has risen by 10 inches since 1950. Its speed of rise has accelerated over the last ten years and it’s now rising by about 1 inch every 4 years. Scientists know this because the sea level is measured every 6 minutes using equipment like satellites, floating buoys off the coast, and tidal gauges to accurately measure the local sea level as it accelerates and changes

What’s the difference between global and local sea level?
“Global sea level trends and relative sea level trends are different measurements. Just as the surface of the Earth is not flat, the surface of the ocean is also not flat—in other words, the sea surface is not changing at the same rate globally. Sea level rise at specific locations may be more or less than the global average due to many local factors: subsidence, upstream flood control, erosion, regional ocean currents, variations in land height, and whether the land is still rebounding from the compressive weight of Ice Age glaciers.”

What links Sun, earthquakes and hurricanes? Do they have a temporal relationship to the solar flares that energize the ionosphere? The butterfly effect of geo-engineering???? Any artificial perturbation of our ionosphere via modulation of waves will cause instantaneous corresponding activity on our sun. People will doubt it, but there is so much we don’t know about wave interactions, it is premature to say it is impossible. But the science is present, if we look for it, and connect the dots. Few will. They will chuckle.

Sun-dimming is apparently the solution to anthropogenic “global warming” – now conveniently relabelled as “man made climate change”.

Yes folks, our all-knowing saviours have concluded the source of all life on our planet (the Sun, in case you missed it) is the problem and we much do all in our power to diminish its role in our existence – and that of everything we see, touch, feel and know.

    Q. How will we do it?
    A. Well, we will travel up to 12 miles above the earth’s surface, and spray limestone dust into the atmosphere to block the heat and energy produced by the sun from reaching Planet Earth as it should.

    No, seriously!

    https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-018-07533-4

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-7350713/Bill-Gates-wants-spray-millions-tonnes-dust-stratosphere-stop-global-warming.html

    https://www.abc.net.au/news/science/2019-07-24/climate-hacking-to-avoid-a-global-warming-apocalypse/11300460

Nevertheless, people like myself are the ones attacked on this forum when we call “time” on the absolute non-science, political manipulation (e.g, “the Danish texts” – research it! / “+90% of climate scientists agree…” – a falsehood), and baseless indoctrination of our innocent children as it concerns so-called anthropogenic climate change.

Folks, when you are made to believe something exists, you will ALWAYS find it when you search.
For example, my dearly departed loved one was convinced Jesus was returning in her lifetime and saw signs of his pending return every living day.

The point is, let us not get carried away with emotion, fear, and hysteria as we baptise ourselves in the new religion of Environmentalism.

Or, on the hand, let us do so, and proceed with our sun-dimming exercise.
It is after all the only thing saving us from complete annihilation.

After all, what could go wrong?

What’s interesting about the Arctic is the gradual changes that have taken place over the last 70+ years. Reading reports of RAF operations over the GIUK gap (if you don’t understand the acronym look it up) and all the way up past Iceland to Jan Mayen and Spitzbergen you’ll see that the sea ice has been steadily receding since WWII. I was up there in 1988. As it went into Autumn things got pretty rough (with no warning we suddenly had 100+mph winds one day!) but very large areas stayed ice-free. In early September it was still clear all the way North to Rossoya and at least 50Ks beyond that.

Not sure if there’s any message there but it was also the first time I’d seen large patches of plastic waste pollution, much of it apparently dumped from Soviet, Korean and Japanese fishing vessels.

As for cruise ships going up there? The fact that cruise lines are even doing it shows they don’t give a c*** about the environment.

What is weird this summer in SWFL is that along with storms, which are normal, we get long stretches of overcast that last all day every day with hardly any wind. More like Oregon weather than Florida. Flora and fauna in Fl need lots of sun to thrive.
