(CNS): Police are investigating a collision between one of their unmarked vehicles and a motorbike last Friday evening in Prospect. In a short release the RCIPS said that around 5pm the unmarked police Chevy Aveo and the bike crashed at the intersection of Mangrove Avenue and Orange Drive, leaving the RCIPS vehicle with damage to its right rear side. The motorbike left the scene but the rider was tracked down by police and interviewed. The motorcycle was determined to be properly licensed and insured.

In ALL suspected impairment incidents, where operator denies impairment, a comprehensive breath analysis panel should by undertaken by Cops at HQ. In 2019, the RCIPS should be checking also for amphetamines, designer amphetamines, opiates, cocaine and metabolites, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, and methadone, not just alcohol. There is no good reason for anyone to have any prohibited Class-A drug in their system while in the Cayman Islands, let alone while operating a vehicle amidst the public.

Was going to say if the bike was properly licensed and insured the rider wasn’t local but when I read he was only just interviewed then I knew he wasn’t local.

Leaving the scene of the crime gets you interviewed. Ummmmmm

One wonders who was responsible for the crash if the rider wasnt arrested – or who he was.

Well, I assume that the biker was at fault because he left the scene of the crime. I dunno, innocent people don’t usually do that… but then again, it’s a weird world.

Also pretty weird he wasn’t chased by the police that were involved, or that they didn’t arrest someone who left the scene of a crime

Or maybe the police are the ones at fault and allowed the rider to leave before the smoke clears with further arrangements for an unlawful favor.

One sure does wonder who was at fault or why there is such a shortage of details. Maybe the driver of the automobile was an illegal alien or drunk or…………….?

Umm the driver of the automobile was a cop. “Police are investigating a collision between one of their unmarked vehicles” did you not read that?
