Jared Kushner

(CNS): A real estate company partly owned by Jared Kushner has brought in around $90 million in investment from anonymous foreign sources since the US President Trump’s son-in-law entered the White House as an adviser. The Guardian reported that most of the cash flowed into the company, Cadre, in which Kushner is said to hold a stake, through a vehicle run by Goldman Sachs here in the Cayman Islands. The revelation by the UK-based newspaper is creating concern in the US that this represents a serious conflict of interest for Kushner.

“It will cause people to wonder whether he is being improperly influenced,” said Jessica Tillipman, an ethics lecturer at George Washington University law school. The Guardian’s sources told the newspaper that the vast majority of the money came to the Cayman Islands vehicle from another offshore centre and also alleged that some of the cash came from Saudi Arabia.

Although Kushner, who formed the company with his brother and a friend, resigned from Cadre’s board and reduced his ownership to under 25% after taking up the White House job, he did not list that continued share of Cadre on his first ethics disclosure. He added the information later, claiming the omission was inadvertent.

Kushner was initially denied a security clearance when he joined Trump’s administration. It was said to have been blocked because of concerns about his outside business interests and “foreign influence”.

This story is a hack job designed to malign Kushner. Let us know how much money the company made prior to his White House job. What was the trend and how did it change? Then we might have something to think about.

The man is a genius and is doing a fantastic job.

I cannot find a single article from the Guardian about Clinton’s cash for access and influence that is negative to Clinton. They are excuse Clinton for stealing Haitian donations and getting hundreds of millions in speaking and other ‘fees’ while being a Secretary of State.

CNS this is fake news and politics dressed up as real news.

Rick, Wake Up. President Trump, Kushner, Ivanka, Donald Trump Jr. Eric Trump and the White House is for sale. You can be Russian, Saudi, Israeli or anybody else and you too can buy influence and economic power from the Trump brigade. You are worried about a bunch of Haitian donations and Hillary’s 3,000 e mails while America is being sold out by the Trump family to foreign interests.

Read the Mueller Report. Only a fool would believe that Trump is acting in America’s best interests. And you Rick, have been conned by America’s biggest con man.

Kushner is such a genius that he encouraged Trump to declare Canada as a national security threat so his friends in the American steel industry could make millions.

Rick, do you really believe Canada is a national security threat to Canada?

Sorry to say Rick, you are not a genius but dumb.

FACT, Hilary made her speaking fees AFTER she was Secretary of State.

I was starting to be offended.
Was wondering who does the Trump family think they are? How could they be millionaire or billionaire and not have accounts in the Cayman Islands?
It’s all legal. so let them report about it.
I’m sure the Guardian, if they are successful and smart that they also have accounts in the Cayman Islands.

It is not legal to be the President’s Senior Policy Adviser in the White House and making policy decisions that directly enriches oneself. 9:28, your ethics compass is completely off.

Of course, there will be endless outrage expressed by Dems about his supposed “conflict of interest”. And yet Dems have no problem whatsoever with the ENDLESS conflicts of interest and illegalities of Hillary. What hypocrites…

8:31, This issue has nothing to do with left or right or Democrats and Republicans but basic ethics. If you take the time to read the Mueller Report there are direct and indirect references to 251 Russians involved in the Trump campaign but you are preoccupied with Hilary and her e mails at her private computer. Your problem is that you cannot see all the conflicts of interest that surround Trump, Kushner and daughter Ivanka, and now amount of proof is going to change your mind.

Wake up and read the Mueller Report.

You should also be concerned about all of the conflicts of interest on these islands but you don’t want to see that either.

TIME TO WAKE UP pure hypocrisy.

While i appreciate that this may well be true, until facts are shown abou the (i do not know if they have already so forgive me if they have) then this is speculation and hereseay.
At trial, do you convict people based on anything but facts (“alleged that some of the cash came from Saudi Arabia”)?
Mob rule is not yet the norm, except online, so evidence please, judgement after. That is also true for liberal lefties by the way before you start thumbing down endlessly! Everyone gets a fair trial!

He failed to list Cadre on his first ethics disclosure, later adding the company and saying the personal $50mln+ omission was inadvertent. As a public official he has an obligation to distance himself from any perceived bias. He could have transferred the asset into a blind trust, but wants to keep this in his own name and also wants everyone to know about it! Like putting your wire transfer details on the back of your business card.

8:49, You no doubt don’t believe all the facts related to Russians in the Mueller Report although everything is very well documented.

Conservative righties like you, will never believe the facts even when they are staring them right in the face and clearly show Trump and his family are up to conflicts of interest right up the yazoo.

8:49, It is a fact that Kushner does not have a security clearance provided by the FBI and CIA to serve in the White House. But Trump overruled everybody and approved Kushner so he could continue working in the financial interests of the Trump family NOT/NOT the American people.

These are facts not speculation nor mob rule. Get a grip on reality 8:49.

He owns 25% of a company which in turn supervises an investment fund worth $512m owned by the investors, not him, up to $250m of which may have come from a Cayman entity run by Goldman Sachs, of which $1m is said to be Saudi money. So your premise is that rather than bribe him directly, people would put money in through Goldman into a fund where, if the underlying fund was successful, Cadre would make success fees on which Kushner would then get 25% of whatever was left after paying for the costs of running said management company). Oh, and then he declares his interest as well. Be a lot easier just to pay him in Bitcoin where he would get 100% of the money. Or – gee whizz – he could just be an investor in a real estate management company (especially since he claims real estate is his bag, and god only knows father on law could chuck him $25m of seed capital).

I dont like the guy either, and would not be surprised if he is sleazy, but this has more than a whiff of the Guardian witch hunting because it has the dog whistle phrases “Cayman Islands”, “Goldman Sachs” and “Saudi Arabia” in it.
