A car ended up in the North Sound after a police chase, April 2019

(CNS): A West Bay man was due in court today, Monday, charged with dangerous driving and drug offences after a police chase that ended in the North Sound. Officers ordered the driver of a silver Toyota Camry to pull over on Wednesday afternoon, 3 April, after they had spotted the car driving erratically along North Sound Road in George Town. But although they used the police car’s emergency lights and sirens to get the driver to stop, he drove the vehicle to the North Sound Dock and into the water. During the chase the driver was also said to have damaged the police car.

The 34-year-old-man from West Bay who was behind the wheel was taken to the hospital for medical treatment after his car finally came to a stop in the water, but police did not say what injuries the man sustained or how he was hurt. He was later arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, as well as suspicion of drug-related offences after cocaine was also found on the man.

Meanwhile, a 24-year-old-man from George Town was also due in court Monday after he was charged at the weekend with burglary. He was arrested just before 5:50am on Saturday, an hour after a break-in on Woodlake Drive, George Town.

It’s hard to say if this is a rogue driver, or a regular Cayman driver, based on the ‘driving skills’ I witness on a daily basis.

Better hurry to that wedding too before government appeals. At least you could sue if you’re already married 😉😂
