Fire crew rescues trapped driver
(CNS): A driver was treated for serious injuries at the George Town hospital Thursday after he was rescued by fire officers following a single-vehicle smash late on Wednesday night, in which it appears he drove into a tree. Just after 11:50pm police, fire and medics were called to South Church Street in George Town, where the man, who appeared to be alone, was trapped in a car with smoke coming from it. After being rescued from the wreck by the fire crew he was given first aid treatment and taken to the hospital by EMS officers.
Police said that the matter is now under investigation by the Traffic and Road Policing Unit. The man is believed to currently be in a serious but stable condition.
