Extinction Rebellion protestors and police in London

(CNS): Activists trying to force the UK government to take climate change seriously and drastically cut emissions continued their protests in London for the eighth day Tuesday, marching on parliament as British MPs returned from the Easter break. More than 1,000 people have been arrested since the Extinction Rebellion of civil disobedience began and 71 have been charged, after protesters set up makeshift camps in the capital and took peaceful direct action to draw attention to the need for honesty from government and new policies over the threats to the planet.

As the campaign entered a second week, some of the demonstrators have suggested temporarily ending the more disruptive tactics to focus on political negotiations, but hundreds of activists left Marble Arch Tuesday carrying flags and banners, heading for the House of Commons.

Nevertheless, the activist are willing to ease off the direct action if, according to one spokesperson, “meaningful discussions” with the government are arranged. The campaigners are demanding that government tell the truth about climate change, reduce carbon emissions to zero by 2025 and to create a citizens’ assembly to oversee progress.

The world renowned Swedish teenage environmental activist and Nobel prize nominee, Greta Thunberg (16), met with some government leaders at the House of Commons and stated that children had been “sold so that a small number of people can make unimaginable amounts of money”.

She told the UK politicians, “You don’t listen to the science because you are only interested in the answers that will allow you to carry on as if nothing has happened.”

While the UK has already committed to cutting greenhouse emissions by 80% from 1990 levels by 2050 and emissions have fallen, overall, Britain is still behind schedule.

Getting to zero emissions will require drastic change, moving all heating and transport to clean energy and immediately phasing out fossil fuels, scrapping diesel and petrol vehicles and getting rid of gas boilers. Experts have said that a “warp-speed scaling up of solar, wind and other renewable energy production” would be required.

However, the Extinction Rebellion activists have said that there is no choice and that this is a necessity to save us all from extinction.

“Our political establishment has failed to protect its people from pollution, prevent further mass extinction of species on earth and prevent the possibility of human extinction in the near future. Therefore we must rebel to protect the livelihood of citizens and our natural world, or risk losing everything we cherish,” according to the activists’ mission statement.

“We are already in the 6th mass extinction of life on Earth, with 200 species lost every day. Every month, there is more extreme weather — floods, wildfires, droughts, and crop failures which could soon lead to famine. Hundreds of thousands of lives are lost to climate breakdown every year,” they stated.

Industries continue to profit over the destruction without care for life and the people have not been told the truth by the media or governments, the activists added.

Lloyds Insurers Refuse To Cover 5G Wi-Fi Illnesses.

WHY would Lloyds leave all that money on the table if these technologies are so BIOLOGICALLY safe? And, why are other insurance companies following Lloyds’ lead?

This Nobel Laureate, no offense, is 100 years old. He was born when the planet earth was relatively pristine and weather predictable. What is being left to our children and all future generations is unspeakable.
No one can proof or disproof global warming, so each side opinions are equally valid. Weather is so erratic and extreme these days to deny it. Is it cased by global warming or effects of man made electromagnetic pollution or both, remains to be seen. But to call global warming a hoax is utterly idiotic.

Climatologist David Legates – More CO2 is Good

Educate yourself from _actual_ climatologist (scientists) and Nobel Prize winners, not leftist cult prophets of doom.

CNS: 97% of “actual” climatologists are in agreement. Why are they “leftist cult prophets of doom”? Overwhelming consensus means that, yes, you can find the odd scientist who disagrees, but if you actually look into it you will find that they are not in general climatologists and are most often associated with dark money linked to the oil industry. David Legates is one of the 3%, but read more about him (here) before you make up your mind.

Ivan Giaever is 90 today. In 1973 he received, among others, Nobel Prize for their discoveries regarding tunnelling phenomena in solids. Is global warming his area of expertise?

A true scientist would never claim his statement is absolute.
Science has lifted us from ignorance of Dark Ages. It has increased the standard of living. But science, powerful as it is, is a false god. Science explains nothing it can only describe. Science proves nothing; it can only verify or disprove. Only mathematical proof is absolute. Objective doesn’t necessarily mean right. Subjective doesn’t mean invalid or irrelevant. Scientists only have five physical senses. They practice materialistic science. Therefore both, global warming deniers and supporters have a stance in the subject. Yet the evidence is overwhelming.

Climate reacts to whatever forces it to change at the time; humans are now the dominant forcing.

“…children had been “sold so that a small number of people can make unimaginable amounts of money”.

    Was she speaking about Cayman?

Caymanian children have no future for the state of environment is dismal; the Dump is unmanageable and would be, covered or not, continuing poisoning future generations.
Population growth has put a strain on quality of life. Noise pollution, overwhelmed or dysfunctional septic systems across the island, contaminated beaches, air pollution from the incinerators and soon from the WtE, biohazard waste, radioactive waste, hundred thousands of dead animals.

Where is Caymanian Greta Thunberg or Boyan Slat?
    Why only 2 comments???????????????????????????????????????????

I feel there are a few organizations that are trying their hardest to help the environment here in Cayman… Plastic Free Cayman being at the forefront. They organize tons of beach clean ups and try so hard to educate this island on how to go plastic free. It’s a shame that the gov’t is more concerned with banning gay marriage than they are to helping w/ climate change! So many people without jobs here- why not work w/ Junk.ky to provide recycle bins to homes and have them pick up every two weeks? We definitely need a Caymanian Greta Thunberg- but would the gov’t just turn away from her too? Jamaica, Antigua, New York City, San Francisco- all banning single use plastic and some also banning styrofoam! What the hell is the hold up here?? If NYC can ban it, where everyone gets take out and delivery everything, why in the world can we not ban that here??!
