Local man admits burning down house

Cayman News Service(CNS): A local man from West Bay has admitted that he set fire to a property on North West Point Road last year when he pleaded guilty to arson in court Friday, though he denied recklessly endangering life in regard to the blaze. Tommy Ebanks (33) was remanded in custody to allow time for prosecutors to consider whether or not to press ahead with the more serious of the two charges, which alleges that when Ebanks set the eight-bedroom property alight, he had placed all of the residents in danger of being badly injured or even killed.

Ebanks was one of the residents at the house last July at the time of the fire, which left almost a dozen other people who had been renting rooms there homeless. The property was gutted by the blaze, but fortunately no one was hurt after it was successfully extinguished by West Bay fire fighters.

Probably listened to a bit too much Talking Heads in his youth. We need to be careful of the subliminal messages we are being sent through music.
