Al La Kebab truck

(CNS): The Al La Kebab truck located at the end of Selkirk Drive in the Red Bay area of George Town has been robbed for the third time in less than eight months. This time the mobile food bar was robbed in broad daylight by a machete wielding man wearing dark clothing. Police said that they received a report around 1:50pm Friday that a suspect, brandishing the weapon, had demanded money from the workers on the truck before making off from the scene with an unknown sum of cash. Fortunately, no one was injured during the robbery.

The culprit was described as having dark skin, a slim build and about 5ft 8″tall.

The same truck was held up in November and July last year, and the company’s permanent food stand in Lawrence Boulevard was also robbed in July last year and two years earlier in 2016

Detectives are asking that if anyone has any information regarding this incident or the location of the perpetrator, to please contact the George Town Police Station at 949-4222. Information can also be passed directly to police anonymously on the RCIPS website, or externally through Crime Stoppers at 800-8477 or online.

RCIPS, these incomplete perp descriptions are still failing grade. Why not publish the CCTV highlight footage you have from any of the two cameras on the side of the van?

    This happens enough,no???
Put multiple cameras around the trailer.
If that don’t won’t give the merchants a means to defend themselves.

These places need to hav security systems jus lik a store front with panic buttons for their employees at quick access and cameras in visible sight so at least it hlps as a deterant …..nothing makes businesses exempt from these type of activitives but it will help

I see additional protective measures in place for the police and politicians but nothing meaningful for the citizens who bear the brunt of the increasing levels of violent crime. These things will continue to get worse because nobody cares.

Not really fair to make everyone pay with credit or debit. Not everyone is complacent that they are paying 60 cents for EVERY bank transaction as service fees and govt stamp duty EVERY time they swipe their card!

Pathetic heists of this nature reaffirm how many armed and dangerous doped-up morons we have. It is a real problem that our bureaucrats shouldn’t continue to ignore. I feel really badly for those businesses and employees that get robbed repeatedly. Yet, after the third or fourth success, maybe the business owner ought to have splurged for the $100 camera? I wouldn’t feel safe as an employee until the target profile changes.

As a regular partaker of cannabis with many friends who also do, may I speak on their behalf to say we’d all be to calm and friendly to ever think of doing such a mean thing.

A rasta once told me any man who smoke an ital spliff and still feel to commit violence is born with such a trait and will die with it, it isn’t the plant.

When you referred to dope I hope you meant coke.

The usual pattern is that they go rob the poor Jerk Chicken guy up the road within a week or two. Everyone knows (including motorists) that there are no cops to be seen in the area.

Dear CNS while talking about robbery I got a shock myself today when I went to First Caribbean Bank to cash a check that I received from a company that I just started to work for last week. I was charge $15 to cash the check because I did not have an account with them. Now this is ridiculous and definitely robbery. I would go as far to say its manslaughter.. just 2 weeks ago cash a check a a different bank and was charged $1 . Because I did not have an account with that bank also. Is there anyone to regulate what the banks are charging or they are free to do as they are please. Looking out doe your response thank you.

CNS: I think your question has pretty much been answered already in this Ask Auntie column: Non-account holder unable to cash cheque. It looks as though you were charged more than the figure Auntie found, so I would suggest that you see if the bank has changed their fees. If not, you should speak to someone at customer service.
