Cayman News Service(CNS): An armed masked man made off with a bag containing personal items after a doorstep robbery outside a George Town home early on Tuesday morning. The victim was outside his house on Greenwood Drive at around 12:30am when he was approached by the masked robber, who appeared to be carrying a gun. The robber demanded his phone, and the victim threw a bag at him and quickly entered his home, police said. The robber tried to follow the victim inside but was unable to gain access. After he left the man found that the bag he had thrown at the robber was gone.

The suspect was wearing a dark, long-sleeved shirt, dark pants, and a mask.

The matter is currently under investigation and anyone with any information is asked to contact George Town CID at 949-4222. Anonymous tips can be provided directly to the RCIPS Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777, or website. Where were the police when this man needed them? When are we going to acknowledge and accept that we can’t rely on the police to be responsible for our personal safety and the safety of our families?

This man was just lucky that he was able to get away.

The robber was lucky that he picked easy prey. These guys will once again pick their match and it won’t turn out good for the bad guys.

You don’t always need a gun to protect yourself. Lot of people have a variety of skills including 1. knowing how to overpower a larger person learnt through martial arts/self defence, 2. taking a gun away and disabling it, or 3. just plain luck and the house is rigged just like in home alone.

That also wasn’t a theory. It did happen in Cayman and has happened many times over around the world.
