Cayman News Service(CNS): A 48-year-old man from Bodden Town is currently in police custody after he was arrested Tuesday for ganja and gambling offences. A second 42-year-old-man who was arrested over an illegal lottery ticket has been bailed. At around 5:40pm on 19 February, officers on patrol in Cumber Avenue stopped a man who had raised their suspicions. He was searched and packets of what police believe was ganja was found on him. But officers also searched a nearby bin, having seen the suspect discard items moments before the search, where they found lottery number papers.

He was then arrested on suspicion of both drug and gambling related offenses and taken into custody. A second man who was also in the area was searched and found to be in possession of an illegal lottery ticket.

Meanwhile, the Customs and Border Control Agency has confirmed they have taken over the case which began with a joint operation in the Breakers area of Bodden Town on Monday. Three men have been arrested and a boat seized, but despite reports of numerous large barrels in the water at the time of the operation, there is no indication that any drugs have been recovered.

“Investigations are currently ongoing by the CBC; therefore, no further details can be provided at this time,” a spokesperson for the new border agency told CNS, Wednesday.
