Earth heading for hottest decade since records began

Cayman News Service(CNS): The Met Office, the UK’s National Meteorological Service, is forecasting that global average surface temperatures over the next five years are likely to be 1°C or more above pre-industrial levels, as the world is now in the midst of what is likely to be the warmest decade (2014 to 2023) since records began in 1850. The scientists are also warning that at least one year between now and 2023 will top 1.5°C higher than average, a critical threshold for climate change.

In a press release Wednesday, Professor Adam Scaife, head of Long-Range Prediction at the Met Office, said 2015 was the first year that temperatures reached 1°C above pre-industrial levels but the following three years were all close.

“The global average temperature between now and 2023 is predicted to remain high, potentially making the decade from 2014 the warmest in more than 150 years of records,” he said.

Averaged over the five-year period 2019-2023, forecast patterns suggest enhanced warming is likely over much of the globe, especially over land and at high northern latitudes, particularly in the Arctic region.

But the effects of climate change are not limited to surface temperature. Warming of the climate system is seen across a range of climate indicators that build a picture of global changes occurring across the land, atmosphere, oceans and ice, the experts warn.

NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issued similar warnings after 2018 was marked as the fourth warmest year on record, behind 2015, 2016 and 2017. Scientists said that last year was another extremely warm year on top of a long-term global warming trend.

NASA’s latest study, which draws on measurements from 6,300 locations, found that the Arctic was warming the most and the impacts of global warming are “already being felt in coastal flooding, heatwaves, intense precipitation and ecosystem change”. Although 2018 was slightly cooler than 2017, scientists said the long-term warming trend was clear from the new data.

Meanwhile, in the United States Congress on Wednesday, the House Committee on Natural Resources held its first hearing on climate change since 2009, as a part of an effort by Democrats to bring the issue to the fore now that they control the House of Representatives, in the face of continuing denials and skepticism about climate change from the Trump administration and some Republicans.

We need a global carbon tax. Everyone on the planet creates carbon dioxide either by the machinery they operate or by the simple fact that they breathe.
We are all in this together and we need to work in unison.
In fact everyone can pay using digital currency, preferably crypto (for security reasons) and to make it even easier and fairer for everyone, we should all take a personal microchip to facilitate payments.
Those who are unwilling to pay should be prevented from producing any more carbon dioxide.
Yes, it’s going to be unpopular, but there you have it. You either love the planet or you don’t.
As human beings, we are classified as a carboniferous life form. An atom of the stable Carbon 12 isotope is scientifically proven to possess 6 protons, 6 neutrons and 6 electrons.

Actual Scientists: here is the data that has been independently collected by groups across the world that proves a hypothesis warming caused by our lack of care for the environment

You: Let me create a straw man argument, entirely devoid of any actual measurable content, and absent any supported facts, because I lack the ability to actually enter into a meaningful debate, because I’m basically a dick; I enjoy insults and generalisations, because that’s so much easier than actually thinking.

I refuse to acknowledge that nearby planets are also experiencing a very slight elevation in surface temperature, as averaged over the same period as the IPCC data.

Oh sorry, didn’t realize CNS comments required university level citations. Google it.

Claims that solar system bodies are heating up due to increased solar activity are clearly wrong. The sun’s output has declined in recent decades. Only Pluto and Neptune are exhibiting increased brightness. Heating attributed to other solar bodies remains unproven.

Which is why the temp has dropped the last few years. You realize that the published annual changes are far smaller than the margin of error in the numbers.

    Que?!

I believe you’re looking for “queue” or “cue” Mr. Educated “climate change” believer.

However, what would I know, right? I’m just an ignorant “global warming” denier.

I really should be in the shed readying my anti-sun aerosol spray that your leading modern “climate scientists” have agreed is our best form of defense.

After all, we cant have those future Seattle-born babies risk higher rates of heart defects as a result of being exposed to the climate of the majority of the planet since thousands of years.

“How does one deny a false theory, exactly?” Well with science, my girl, with science. Here is an example – The Earth is Flat. That is a false theory. It can be denied as valid theory by credible scientific evidence that the Earth is round.

            Ok, dearest Wise One, understood.

Now, where is the “credible scientific evidence” of global warming / climate change?

            I’ll be waiting…

            – Who

*P.S. CNN, Daily Mail, and mainstream news headlines do not qualify as “credible scientific evidence”.
Nor does the tired, twisted claim of “leading climate scientists say…”.

For as we see, these are the same group (Ivy League research, mind you) that believe our best defence is spraying the atmosphere in an awesome anti-sun mission.

I am still waiting on you and your colleagues to point me to the scientific proof of anthropogenic global warming.

                    It does not exist.

Nevertheless, this does not refrain our education systems from burdening the impressionable minds of our younger generation with “climate change” scare-mongering – in the same science book, a few pages down from CO2 = Carbon dioxide.

                    Despicable.

                    My friend,

I am actually riding on the wave of actual science here.
I believe you ought to be directing your words to those in the room intent on forwarding baseless theories as actual science.

This is not about OPINIONS, my friend.

There is no trolling on my behalf – at all. I could not be more serious in my stance.

Granted, it is so upstream in respect to now commonly accepted rhetoric that I realise how someone like yourself my consider it as “trolling”.

Clearly, you are the one that needs to “grow up”.

Since you can’t accept the fact that we’re irreparably damaging out planet then take note of this simple quote and you decide what the best action for humanity is.

“If we do something and climate change is false we will have a safe, renewable and reliable form of energy production. If we do something and climate change is true then we have new technology while at the same time saving our planet. If we do nothing and climate change is false then we will continue to use the same methods of energy generation which will eventually run out, if we do nothing and climate change is true then we take away a future for our children based on the future predictions of climate change.

If none of these decisions seem to matter to you then at such point your opinion is simply disregarded as you disregard where humanity should lie.

Doing something whether climate change is real or not can bring humanity into a new age whereas doing nothing will keep us with our Victorian forms of energy production.
