(CNS): Four men were arrested after police found a significant quantity of suspected ganja in the early hours of Thursday morning in George Town. Police said that shortly after 5:00am on 14 February, officers on patrol in the capital saw a Honda vehicle speeding along Walkers Road. The driver ignored police signals to stop and continued racing along the road. Shortly afterwards the officers found the now empty vehicle on Rock Hole Road, with the occupants having fled. They searched the vehicle and surrounding area and recovered several large garbage bags nearby, which contained a quantity of suspected ganja, estimated to be over 400lbs.

Following the search, three men of George Town, aged 26, 30 and 41, and a 31-year-old man of Bodden Town were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the importation of ganja.

They remain in custody as investigations continue, police said.

Remember the government doesn’t care what drugs you do but, who you buy them from. The reason gangja is prohibited but, tobacco and alcohol isn’t is because, unlike ganja the government can easily regulate alcohol and tobacco products. Even with the evidence that shows cigarettes and alcohol are more dangerous to a persons health than gangja can ever be.

Why can’t seized suspected ganja be made into cannabis oil medicine in Cayman. Police coffers need a cash injection and they recognise the potential gold mine they’re soon going to destroy. That is if it doesn’t go mysteriously missing from their lock up in the meantime.

If only we were allowed to grow a medical plant legally. That would remove the black market demand, provide tax revenue and free up police resources.

We’re allowed to grow tobacco and have a cigar rolling farm here. We’re allowed to smoke nicotine laced cigarettes on government time.

Yet make me relax with some cannabis tea for my depression instead of a flask of poisonous Vodka and suddenly I’m a criminal.

There is no reason to allow tobacco and not cannabis. Think of the tourism opportunities.. Colorado has made millions in tax revenue that is put towards building schools.

The reality is that we are already allowed to grow “medical” weed with a Rx. Obviously, home grown doesn’t generate any tax revenue or pay to build schools. RCIPS interdiction efforts remain minimal.

Tell that to the dutty so called business bandit folks around here who are dying to make weed profits…it’s embarrassing and pretty sick to see…they got connections too it’s terrible all we got was records and waste of time lies now they expect to sell it to us and demand that we see it as medical. Truly, Sick sick…so keep your rx cards and expensive garbage oils we don’t take part in Tom Foolery.

This is so true! They have it highly priced too it’s a joke and they are teamed up with the govt and Canadians who are milking it before locals even get a chance.

You wanna grow some medical plant?
Here are a few. Nonie. Sweet Sop. Neesberry. Basil. Lime. Just to name a few.

Ganja is not the heal all. Stop fooling people and giving false hopes.

I can prove to you that smoking Ganja all day is not going to make you live long.
In fact you can google it yourself.
Google. “famous rasta man that smoke pot all day died”.

Colorado is one of 50 States. Cayman is not alone. When the time is right it can be the next topic. Cayman is not the only place where Ganja is illegal. Cayman is not the only place that does not allow same sex marriage. Cayman does not need to be the first to damnation.

The police does not ignore the rich white boy and pick on the little black boy.
The fact is that if most people have sense and smoke that crap in private and not try to show off. There would be less issues with the so call Ganja problem.
