Tammi Sulliman

(CNS): The local television station, Cayman 27, which is now owned by Hurley’s Media Ltd, welcomed back veteran journalist Tammi Sulliman this month to manage its news, community content, programming and operations. Sulliman, who is originally from Trinidad and has worked in the news business for more than 18 years, joined Cayman Net News as a print journalist in 2007 before transitioning to TV. Since moving to Cayman, she has worked as a reporter and talk show host and was Cayman 27’s news director before she left in 2016 to work for the islands’ largest developer, the Dart Group, dealing with public relations.

However, Sulliman is returning to the news room, where she will host a weekly political talk show, as well as anchor the news on occasion and co-host the station’s talk show, Cayman Crosstalk, which is simultaneously broadcast across both Cayman 27 and Rooster 101.9.

“It is a privilege to once again serve the Cayman Islands community through local news, sports and community content,” Sulliman said. “Coming back to Cayman 27 allows me to work together with a committed team to ensure the production and dissemination of accurate information, balanced coverage and quality entertainment. Equally important to me is the continued training of young Caymanians in the fields of journalism and television production, a service Cayman 27 has been providing since its inception in 1992.”

The station’s owner and managing director of Hurley’s Media, Randy Merren, was clearly delighted to have this popular and talented news veteran back on the team.

“We are happy to welcome Tammi back home to Cayman 27, where she served the country for more than a decade, covering political and social issues,” he said. “Tammi brings with her institutional knowledge and experience of television and the local landscape. Her earned credibility will serve to enhance the work we do at the TV station, bringing the stories and programming that matters most to the people of the Cayman Islands.”

Tammi is a true professional and a lovely person. She loves Cayman and our people, and she loves news. She works hard to be impartial and she is extremely intelligent, I’ve had the pleasure of working with her, and can honestly say that she is a very encouraging and supportive person. There isn’t a small-minded bone in her body, and I am very happy for her and for Cayman 27. She is back doing what she loves, and the organization has a very competent leader in her. Wishing her all the very best. Go Tammi!

Take it away and seize the day girlfriend!!!
You will go far. You don’t have to manage any men. You are your perfect self with a golden voice at that.

I am a Tammi fan but this comment is really inappropriate. Her looks have nothing to do with her brain and her wit. Her value should be solely based on what she brings to the station.

She was always objective. I hope she brings that quality back. There’s no one else I can think of who can carry out the task as adeptly and professionally as she has in the past.

Don’t expect any objective coverage on environmental issues.

The Progressives gone clear. Developers gone clear. Pinnacle and Hurley’s produce #paidcontent posing as #news. CNS is anti-government and pro conservation.

Where is the objective, factual news and quality content going to come from?

In the past Tammi covered the environment objectively and factually. Her body of work over the years speaks for itself. Whether that changes now remains to be seen, but I doubt she will want to mar her credibility.

Tammi is good…would be great if she toned down her accent ..to a more neutral accent…one that is not distracting…and before you start bashing me…this is typical and expected of broadcast journalists.

      Define neutral accent. American? Cha.

Forget you and your “neutral” accent.. No one should have to change to that from their NATURAL accent.

They have done little more than repeat government talking points in recent years

Personally I think a talk show should have only one host- a host and his/her guest(s) is enough. Woody like Austin tries too har and like the sound of their own voices too much. Move over Woody.

Haven’t watched Crosstalk in over a year!! Can’t take Woody and his foolish talking all the time. He never gives the guests a chance to say very much. Spends the whole time giving his own opinions. You want to bite on steel when he starts an interview.

For what she has done for this country over the years, Tammi is Caymanian to many of us born Caymanians. She truly cares for us and our country, and as a fellow Caribbean nationality, she understands us and learned our ways. Her parents lived here for many years too and she comes from good people. She was the reason I watched Cayman 27 because I could trust her reports to be fair and correct. Election coverage is not the same without her. Thank you for coming back Tammi!
