Regional forecast warns of more drought for Cayman

| 10/01/2019 | 52 Comments

(CNS): In a regional weather outlook published this week, the Barbados-based Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology (CIMH) has predicted continued drought and dry spells across many parts of the region for the first quarter of 2019, largely due to the emerging El Niño. The regional weather experts pointed out that the Cayman Islands is one of a number of islands enduring a longer-term drought and is warning of potential heatwaves later on this year. The Cayman Islands National Weather Service recently revealed that Cayman received well over a foot less rain last year than the average, with a particularly dry June and July.

Although Cayman is not dependent on rain for the bulk of its public water supply because of its desalination plants, the drought has been impacting the water lens used by farmers and the local vegetation across the landscape, which does rely on rainfall.

Despite the ongoing drought, however, at the weekend thunderstorms in Grand Cayman led to more than three inches of rain on Sunday alone, flooding some roads and causing delays to air traffic at Owen Roberts International Airport and drenching arriving passengers. The 3.55 inches recorded at the airport weather station at the weekend was double the entire amount of rain that fell in January last year.

Global temperatures predictions for 2019 suggest it will be another record-breaking year. Long-term forecasters agree that a building El Niño event will come on top of human-caused global warming, with 2019 set to be one of the warmest, if not the warmest, on record. El Niño not only raises temperatures but redistributes weather patterns, making extreme weather events like droughts and floods more common.

I am astounded at the hysterical finger pointing and pathetic attempts to deny the undeniable. Anyone with the ability to observe what has happened to the climate in Cayman over the past 50 years can see with their own eyes how the climate has changed. There’s none so blind as those that cannot see.

FACT: The Sahara desert cycles from dry to green again, every 44,000 years. The Sahara will be green again in about 15,000 years.

Stop drinking the leftist kool-aid today, and live a happier life.

Everyone should watch An Inconvenient Truth. As see for yourself, every single doomsday prediction are been proved false. Not “some”, but ALL of them. Not only have they not come true in any regard, they are complete science fiction. See this cult leader for yourself here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXMarwAusY4

Time after time, these prophets of climate hysterics fall on their faces when the facts come in. They were forced to admit that the glaciers were not melting, and it was getting colder between 2009-2013. This is why the “scientists” called this period the great pause.

Here is the earth hysterical temperature chart. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geologic_temperature_record

Ever heard of Occam’s razor? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occam%27s_razor

Was is more plausible. 1) The earth that has been around for billions of years, which has sustained millions of every natural disasters imaginable. Millions and millions of Megavulcanic eruptions, asteroids, solar flares, natural oil fields surfacing and burning for millenniums. forest fires, earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, ice ages, oceans turning into lakes and visa versa, mass extinctions, and so on…

    OR,

    2) A group of people (called scientists) which have been paid 116 Billion to date in climate research have figured out it’s in their interest to make sure there is a crisis, so they can continue getting paid billions in yearly grants, by governments around the world that generate trillions in global carbon taxes?

Agree with you and the data — the real data, not that which has been falsified — supports your view.

I disagree and object strenuously to your insults in the last paragraph. You paint with a broad brush, and manage to insult the hard-working three who produce this news forum. Yes, their view surfaces now and then in the form of an editorial. So what? To insult the very forum of which you obviously participate and enjoy makes the rest of your post easy to marginalise and thus forget.

If you leave off the insults next time, your point might actually be heard.

Where did you ever get the cockamamie idea that “the glaciers were not melting”? For an example of where you are wrong, see: https://www.nasa.gov/content/climate-365-now-you-see-it-now-you-dont#.XECzeFVKj0o

For Grand Cayman that means increased risk of spontaneous fire at the Dump, lack of water to extinguish potential fires. Are you ready? Armagedon may come, ready or not. Unless you have a private plane or boat, you might have nowhere to run

What I have learned in SWF last year when Irma was bearing down, all flights from SWF to anywhere safe, including Canada, and all rooms in hotels were sold out a week before the actual landfall. Evacuating by car wasn’t an option for me. A huge tree did fall down barely missing my roof.

So drought could bring some unexpected consequences to Cayman. Be aware and prepared.

Some deranged people are determined to ride this broken-down, lame horse right into town and set up shop. Well, I don’t buy it.

CNS: Here are some of the “crazed zealots” who tell us that climate change is real:
Scientists at NASA – read here
Scientists at NOAA – read here
Scientists on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) – read here
    The Pentagon – read here
    ExxonMobile – read here

Googling the thousand and one bloggers and vloggers out there who think otherwise doesn’t make you a critical thinker.

LMAO! CNS is citing NASA as a reliable source ?

CNS: You understand what NASA is, right – the organisation that sent a space probe to the outer reaches of our solar system, sends people into space? Spend a little time on its website here, and here’s one of its scientists on the subject.

You can always count on CNS to tow the foaming at the mouth leftwing insanity.

CNS: So by your logic, ExxonMobile is also a foaming at the mouth left wing organisation. This is what they say on the matter:

The risk of climate change is clear and the risk warrants action. Increasing carbon emissions in the atmosphere are having a warming effect. There is a broad scientific and policy consensus that action must be taken to further quantify and assess the risks.

ExxonMobil is taking action by reducing greenhouse gas emissions in its operations, helping consumers reduce their emissions, supporting research that leads to technology breakthroughs and participating in constructive dialogue on policy options.

Addressing climate change, providing economic opportunity and lifting billions out of poverty are complex and interrelated issues requiring complex solutions. There is a consensus that comprehensive strategies are needed to respond to these risks.

Exactly. See the climate gate doctored climate data documents.

CNS: Climategate had nothing whatsoever to do with NASA. In 2009 some emails were hacked from the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit by climate skeptics. The skeptics claimed the emails proved science fraud, the researchers at the CRU said it was all taken out of context. The media got wind of it and some latched onto the whole climategate deal, especially since some of the data had been used by the IPCC. Regardless, that was almost a decade ago and the massive body of scientific research since then has all pointed to the reality of climate change and that human activity is the main cause. The question to ask yourself is do you believe the people who man space stations, send spacecraft to planets 5 billion (yes billion) miles away and track hurricanes, or a blogger you found on Google?

I’m not biting your absurdly facile false dichotomy. Some critics of your leftwing organization are not always your typical leftarded cult disciple.

Because NASA sends spacecrafts to planets 5 billion miles away, does not necessarily make them and/or any other organizations on the climate subject impermeable to dishonesty and fraud.

According to your flawed leftist logic, this would also mean that since it is actually the US government that’s in charge of organizations such NASA and NOAA, that would imply that any US and members of congress politicians could not be possibly corrupt since they are really in control of these very complex organizations.

The fact is trillions are generated from carbon taxes yearly, globally, and hundreds of billions are funded to these global warming “scientists”. That coupled with capitalism hating leftists like yourselves, makes a perfect lucrative political vehicle to corrupt.

And CNS is just another vehicle whether your too stupid to realize it or not.

Great book on Climategate for those of you wishing to stop drinking the koolaid:

          https://www.amazon.com/Climategate-Veteran-Meteorologist-Exposes-Warming/dp/1935071831

CNS: The author is not a scientist but a former weather anchor and conservative talk show host. He calls himself a meteorologist but he only has a bachelors degree and nowhere, not even his own website, says what he majored in.
Try reading this about climate denial books. It’s a long read but worth it.
The gist of it is that climate scientists present their findings in peer reviewed journals. i.e. for people who understand enough science to property critique them, whereas climate deniers tend to stick to blogs and non peer-reviewed books (many of which are self-published), so they can make whatever claims they like, no matter how many times it has been debunked. They cater to the lay public who are already primed to believe what they write.

Well here are some of them.

            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_scientists_who_disagree_with_the_scientific_consensus_on_global_warming

CNS: I’m guessing that you linked this page because you read the headline, but you really should read the whole thing. It explains the concept of consensus, which I don’t think you quite understand. Here are a few of sentences from it:
            1. Nearly all publishing climate scientists (97–98%) support the consensus on anthropogenic climate change.
            2. These findings are recognized by the national science academies of all the major industrialized nations; the consensus has strengthened over time and is now virtually unanimous. The level of consensus correlates with expertise in climate science.
            3. Few of the statements in the references for this list are part of the peer-reviewed scientific literature; most are from other sources such as interviews, opinion pieces, online essays and presentations.
