(CNS): Javonnie Jamal Silburn (22) was remanded in custody Friday until a scheduled sentencing hearing in March after he admitted stabbing another man during an altercation in East End last summer. Silburn pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and carrying a knife after an incident at a yard on Sea View Road on the evening of 31 July, where Silburn was said to have arrived on a bicycle, stabbed the victim and then fled. The injured man, whom Silburn knew, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries and was in in the ICU for some time. Silburn was tracked down and arrested several days later.

After he pleaded guilty to both of the charges, his lawyer asked the court to order a psychiatric report before sentencing, and the case was adjourned until 5 March to allow for that to be completed.

Silburn had originally faced charges of attempted murder but prosecutors had agreed to accept his admissions to intentional grievous bodily harm instead, though he can still expect a significant custodial sentence.

Deportation order? BTW what does it take to convince the Prosecutors to take attempted murder to trial? Unlike some of the weak bs cases they actually try, this was a slam dunk. GBH was the worst they could do. Now this dangerous dude will be out among us in 2-3 years. They need to get serious about the crime problem. The police caught this guy, there are witnesses, do your job!
