Car thief makes off with cash in multiple break-ins

Cayman News Service(CNS): The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service is on the lookout for one or more thieves who made off with cash and personal items from five car break-ins around the Savannah Avenue area of Bodden Town this weekend. Police said they received the reports on Sunday from vehicle owners in Savannah Avenue, Jim Bodden Avenue, Lancelot Drive and Harvest Avenue, who said the cars were all parked and left in tact Saturday evening. Windows of two of the vehicles were smashed and the locking mechanism on the door of another was damaged. The other two vehicles had been left unlocked, police said.

The incidents are currently under police investigation and the RCIPS is reminding the public to avoid leaving any valuables in their vehicles, especially overnight and where they are visible to passersby.

“We have increased our patrols in the area in response to these incidents, which we are actively investigating,” said Acting Inspector Fernando Soto, Area Commander for the Eastern Districts. “We ask those in the community to report any suspicious persons or activity, especially during overnight hours.”

Anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the Savannah area is asked to contact the Bodden Town Police Station at 947-2220. Anonymous tips can be provided directly to the RCIPS Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777, or website. Tips can also be submitted anonymously via the Miami-based call centre of Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS), or online.

Bait cars? We’ve only suggested it 500 times on here. Usually it takes 1000 times before RCIPS finally end up taking our advice after trying to solve in on their own to no avail. We know you lot are reading these comments instead of working…….

Just think, there are so many cars that can be used as bait cars on this island and if these idiot criminals realized their were a bunch all around they may think twice about breaking into cars. OR they break in and you get to arrest them and possibly deport them.

I’ll willingly fund a kickstarter to develop a Magnavolt device like seen in the first Robocop movie. These car thieves need a jolt they’ll never come back from.

Why are you blaming the victim.

Because they should be responsible and DO NOT LEAVE MONEY AND STUFF in theIr cars. By doing so they are only causing more problems for the police to have to deal with. How difficult is it? They are not victims they are just careless!

The criminals are more careless in not obeying basic ownership rules of any society, but that would mean you and your kind would have to fess-up to taking advantage of people. The victim did nothing wrong, we should be asking what the thief did wrong, not the victim.

Anything else law abiding citizens should do to bend-over backwards for criminals. Trash is as trash promotes.
