Cayman News Service(CNS): A man wearing a dark hoodie and a cloth around his face armed with what was believed to be a handgun made off with an undisclosed amount of cash Friday night following a robbery at the KFC restaurant in downtown George Town on Shedden Road. Police said they received the report around 9pm about the hold-up at the restaurant, which was busy with customers and staff. No one was injured during the incident and no shots were fired, but the robber fled the location with the money before the police arrived.

No arrests have been made and the RCIPS is asking anyone with information to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222.

Anonymous tips can be provided to the RCIPS Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777 or via the RCIPS website. Tips can also be submitted anonymously via the Miami-based call centre of Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS), or online here.

Why doesn’t the owners employ security guards for the safety of their customers and employees?

They need a guard with a feral rooster trained on command to fly at any armed robber, claws drawn ,strip off his mask and leave permanent scratches on his face so he can be easily identified.

65000 people, probably 5000 under 12, 8500 over 60, 6500 civil servants (ok, i get it, but not armed robbery) out of 25000 work permits, probably 22,500 are decent jobs, maybe 7500 dependents. Half of whats left is female, kids in college, people on the Sister islands, the guys in jail… However you keep working this matrix down… Is there 500 potential suspects on this island? Legitimately 250?

These people committing the gun crime likely are known to the police, lets have a door knocking campaign, fine some of the cars with blacked out windows and hidden license plates, be visible at known ganga spots and outside the nastier bars at closing, make a few arrests for loitering, noise, littering, just make if a little more difficult for these guys to ply their trade.

Have of? Oh I get it, you must be one of those you speak of. But that’s everyone else’s fault, right?

But seriously, I’ve never committed a crime because I made less than ends meet. And my most of my life, I’ve made less than ends meet.

Granted, my license plate is fully visible, but my car is tinted and I enjoy myself w cup of cannabis tea from time to time.

Why do you generalize and say all who partake with cannabis are hardened criminals? You do realize that if it were legal and regulated like tobacco, you wouldn’t have a reason to lump US law abiding Caymanian professionals into the criminal group.

We contribute to our society. I volunteer my services. We pay our taxes. We tend to be too relaxed to want to hurt anyone.

Yet you label us the same as a robber because I brew a tea from and someone smokes (like legal cigs) a natural plant?

This is just unbelievable that one man can come in to public place with a mask over his face and gun in his hand , and employees and customers stand by and let him robb the place . Do we see why the crime and prices are going up ? If this continue to happen to KFC , what do you think that KFC would have to do to stay open/survive ? Who do you think that will pay for everything? YOU the consumers .

Someone could have thrown the pot of hot coffee on his head , or put him in chocking hold until the Police came . I sure that KFC would have rewarded you with some fry chicken , then you could be up for HEROE award .

So you’re saying customers/employees should risk their lives to protect cash that’s insured? Surely I must have interpreted your comment wrong!!!!

I have to agree with Ron. One man alone, gun or not, someone could have done something. These things never happen when those willing to get involved are around.

but that’s how they get caught. They are like little girls, and can’t keep a secret. They HAVE TO tell someone. And that is what gets them caught.

The Annual Christmas Spree has started. I do not get it: why can’t the police see the pattern every year and strategically plan for them? Stake outs and coordinated robbery teams. This show-up after the fact is getting tired. And it does nothing for being a deterrent. Perhaps lay off the stupid checking for stickers campaign and start catching the real criminals. Yeah we know it involves work…not holding our breath.
