(CNS): The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service is appealing for witnesses to a two-vehicle crash yesterday evening at the Kings Roundabout involving a Honda Accord that was said to be stolen and a Nissan Pathfinder. Police said that after the collision, the occupants of the Honda Accord left the scene in another vehicle, described as a blue, late-model, Honda Civic (see picture above).

The collision at the roundabout on the Linford Pierson Highway was reported shortly after 7:30pm on Sunday, 21 October, but no injuries were reported.

The police said that after the officers arrived on the scene, the owner of the Accord was spoken to and stated that the Accord had been stolen earlier that evening.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen this collision, or have any information on the whereabouts of the vehicle that left the scene, to contact the George Town Police Station at 949-4222.

Anonymous tips can be provided directly to the RCIPS  Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777, or via the RCIPS website. Tips can also be submitted anonymously via the Miami-based call centre of Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS), or online here.

So the plate is in clear sight lines….can the very costly camera system not enhance the shot and provide the plate number? If it cannot read plate numbers what use is it? Oh yeah, it provided the vendor a nice fat pay out!

They should be able to find some DNA in the vehicle and find a match with who they suspect.

    Dear new govornor,

We are sick of incompetent police and lenient courts. This place is going downhill fast and is approaching a breaking point. One of the major reasons for the decline is the common knowledge that the odds of someone committing a crime and being caught and convicted are minimal. Soon vigilante justice will be the only option.

Lack of progressive abortion laws have allowed our uneducated children to have children and society expects them to be parents.

Children have children. Encouraged by NAU. If they had to work or them they wouldn’t have them.

appealing for witnesses???…the public has given you video footage!…

Blurry video footage does not make a case. If you have ever had to take a case to court (which you obviously have not) you would know that. Asking for other witnesses is ALWAYS needed when you conduct an investigation. You don’t know what other things will come up (especially from the defense), and the more witnesses the better.

Nothing but incompetence. If the RCIPS were actually patrolling instead of being parked hiding behind a tree or bend in an attempt to catch some doing 5mph over the limit, then just maybe some real crime could be solved. DO SOME REAL POLICING, RCIPS!

Either a clear picture of the license plate or for someone to tell them the number of the plates of the car they drove off in maybe?

    • Anonymous says:

Hopefully someone also noted the number plate of the blue civic and gave to the police.

That is the only blue Honda Civic of that model in Cayman. There is one other one but it is a Type R. I know this as a general member of the public so how hard can it be to find the driver that picked them up and drove off.

That is the Blue FK8 Type R. If you watch video you’ll see the second spoiler, and three exhaust pipes. They are only 5 on island Red, White, Blue, Black, and Gray.

Would love to see you prove it from a blurry picture. I assume you have a degree in Type R civics? Why do you think the RCIPS is asking for witnesses with more info?

Yes. i do. I have owned 3 as well as 2 Integra Type R’s. I considered buying this model also but decided against it as the amount of power to the front wheels was better suited for AWD. Also, you do not have to have a degree in Type R’s, you just need good eyesight and common sense, which you obviously have neither of.

You should loan the police a hand, or better yet, an eye. It seems you have better eye sight than they do.

How can tell it is a Type R from the photo?

Had the stolen car already been reported? If not maybe the owner knew who stole/borrowed it???
