When 16 year old Roseanna turns up, just give her the option to either (a) stay to accept CIG-sponsored assistance, food and board, by following the rules, or (b) have her sign her release from being a ward of the court/state to realign our concerns. It should have been made very clear to her on any of the previous several breaches of trust, that she can’t have both. Maureen Jervis-Brooks isn’t doing a very convincing job at explaining the purpose of Frances Bodden home if this keeps happening with her same charges.

As I said previously, I think repeat offenders should be required to wear ankle monitors. That may sound harsh, but it will help ensure the safety of these children and will result in less public resources being wasted trying to track them down.

Please stop trying to treat these children like they are criminals. We need to love and nurture our children for they are the future of the Cayman Islands. If you treat them like a criminal, their mind will be conditioned to think they are a criminal and as such, will turn out to be one.

@18yo Grow up a little more. You’re still at the age where the things she does still seems cool and awesome. God forbid she runs away one day and gets raped or killed because she has no regard for authority. Treating her like a criminal might save her life. She keeps it up and she’ll end up another dreg in society instead of trying to make something of herself.

What i find so funny is how are these kids allowed to wonder off?
aren’t there any supervision at this home?
But a better question why is it that they want to run away? what is happening why they feel it is so bad to stay put?

The home is not a jail. She doesn’t run away, she goes off somewhere and doesn’t come back until she feels like it. She’s 16 now so she won’t be there much longer.

She’s a ward of the court – Frances Bodden’s role is to secure her from danger she opts to seek out anyway. If she can’t follow rules, and/or declines this assistance at age of majority, she should be automatically released to make her own life on her own accord without our subsidy.
