(CNS): A West Bay man sustained multiple stab wounds on Monday evening during a fight outside a West Bay liquor store. Police are now looking for witnesses who may have seen the altercation, which happened at around 5:40pm outside Pop-a-Top liquor store on Powell Smith Road. The incident was reported to officers on patrol in the district by a member of the public. When they arrived at the scene they learned that the people involved had left and an injured man had been driven to a nearby location on Birch Tree Hill Road.

When police arrived there, they found the man, who had sustained wounds to his torso and leg, being assisted by members of the public.

It was reported that he had been involved in a fight with another man, who had stabbed him. He was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital to be treated for serious injuries, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Coward anonymous 3 :03 , you would rather criticize my comment , than trying to understand that there’s a problem in Cayman islands with alcohol and those that let the alcohol control them. Doesn’t say much for you but I dont expect no better from you .

Crimes still not as bad compared to the rest of the world, just look at our neighbours to the north for example, and if we should follow in their footsteps(like the direction Cayman is heading now) then I fear our future has been set to fail.

Has anybody noticed that stabbing incidents tend to flare up around and during the approach of Pirates Week? Looks like it conjures the spirit of the pirates…

This is what I call big concerns about a issue like alcoholism , and who lets alcohol control them . One would blame it on the pirates , and the other would suggest that we need to have cannabis dispensaries instead of alcohol bars .
How will we ever see that there’s a problem anywhere ? With anything .

See now if we cannabis dispensaries instead of liqour stores, then the news would change to “Man seriously high outside dispensary”.

Can’t wait for CNS to publish these headlines 10 years from now:

“West bay in dire shortage of Doritos after cannabis dispensary replaces liquor store.”

“West bay gangs declare permanent cease-fire one week after legalization.”

      “People high, violence low.”

“CIG to start funding school projects through cannabis tax revenue.”

I know that this is a issue that government wouldn’t want to touch/address . But alcohol and the people who aren’t capable of understanding the consequences of it , shouldn’t be allowed to consume it . This subject is just like an intelligent person who are talk to unintelligent and everything is going over their head , or don’t want to try and understand it .

Alcohol consumption by people who aren’t capable of understanding the consequences of it is not a good mixture for the society . And should be addressed .
I am not saying that alcohol should be banned , what I saying is that if you drink it you should be responsible and be able to control the alcohol , and not let the alcohol control you . Then if you can’t , That’s where the government needs to address .

Has anyone noticed the difference in some people , between when they are completely sober , and when they are completely loaded with alcohol . I know allot and difference is night and day .

Anonymous 11 : 16 am , CCTV cant see the problem with alcohol and those that let alcohol control them . I am not trying to solve the stabbing or the case . I am trying to get you and everyone else to understand that there’s a problem with the people who let alcohol control them , that is causing these tragedies in Society .

There are jurisdictions in the U.S. that require some people as a condition or parole or probation to take a daily dose of antabuse, which makes a person ill if she or he consumes alcohol. Every day, an officer must witness the person taking the medication. There also are ankle monitors that will alert authorities if a person consumes alcohol. Just have to get the courts to order it. Of course, after the person is off parole or probation, they can just go back to where they were — unless they have been able, while forced to be sober, to take advantage of the help they have been offered.
