Miss America Pageant 1953

(CNS): Miss America is scrapping the swimsuit section of the competition in order to shift its focus from physical beauty to talent and inner beauty. In a press release Tuesday, the organisation announced “sweeping changes” to where contestants will no longer be judged on physical appearance. Miss World has already eliminated the bikini parade from its global pageant. However, for the Miss Cayman Islands 2018 contest underway, CNS understands contestants will still be required to parade before judges in bikinis because the winner of that competition will go on to Miss Universe. Unlike Miss World, the Miss Universe contest has made no such decision to ditch the swimsuits or switch its focus from physical beauty.

The Miss America Competition is to find a winner to compete in Miss World and the change at the national level will see the women participate in a live interactive session with the judges highlighting achievements and goals in life. Judging will be geared towards how the winner would perform the job of Miss America.

“We are no longer a pageant. Miss America will represent a new generation of female leaders focused on scholarship, social impact, talent and empowerment,” said Gretchen Carlson, Chair of the Board of Trustees. ”We’re experiencing a cultural revolution in our country, with women finding the courage to stand up and have their voices heard on many issues. Miss America is proud to evolve as an organisation and join this empowerment movement.”

Whoever sets up a Miss Swimsuit America pageant will make a fortune….

Time they banned it altogether. Everyone who enters these competitions think that they are beautiful. Exactly the same as baby competitions. It’s so heartbreaking then when it’s not their baby that is deemed not the most beautiful……cruel actually!
As for all you old ogling pervs out there, get a grip and grow up!! You are nothing but slimey old sleezebags! Beauty fades and is only skin deep. It’s what’s within that counts.

Beauty pageants are not about what is “within”. Never have been.

In fact the social fabric of all our societies prove that same point, no-one gives a hoot about who you really are “inside”.

      So cut the crap.

    Liberalism/Feminisim/Snowflakeism destroys everything.

Sports, economies, education, science (especially climate, biology and geology), family units, pregnancy, race relations, genders, pageants and competition of any kind.

Likely more to do with conservatism, religiosity, Evangelical hypocrisy….all right wing republican beliefs eh!

    • Diogenes says:

How will you survive without your Bikini clad model eye candy, oh the humanity
and you are somehow calling liberals snowflakes?
As you complain about a swimsuit contest being removed from a modeling competition.

yeah buddy, you really won this war of ideas

    • Anonymous says:

So being in a huff about losing the bikini portion of a beauty pageant doesn’t make YOU a snowflake? Get over it manbaby

time for all men to stand up to the rampant ignorance of the modern day social justice campaign….

    • Diogenes says:

Is your right to ogle women in bikinis you have absolutely no chance with being infringed? Might I suggest contacting your local human rights groups, I am sure they will get right on this pressing issue.

if its not about beauty and looks… make all judges were blindfolds….
the stupidity and hypocrisy of feminism is beyond belief.

    • Jotar. says:

Better idea – why not ban the whole idea of parading woman and judging them on their attractiveness be it physical, spiritual or intellectual. It’s just sad.

  12. Anonymous says:

so i wonder how many of these smart women will stop posting bikini selfies on their instagram????

  13. Anonymous says:

the swim suit section was my favourite part!….

  14. Bertie :B says:

Why do the not have a MR America ? send them out in their bathing suits and make them sing and dance . Or maybe they do idk . I wouldn’t watch either one , its ridiculous , beauty is in our hearts and soul .

  15. Anonymous says:

Wasn’t the swimsuit competition the whole point of the pagent ? ask any man what he thinks unless he happens to be gay.

    • Diogenes says:

The swimsuit competition was the point of the pageant… almost a hundred years ago
The swimsuit portion also isn’t even the most viewed section, the talent portion almost always has the most attention

and to the rest of these hilarious comments I’ll just leave this here:
The persons responsible for these changes aren’t bleeding heart liberals or social justice warriors, they are the women who were part of the pageant in the past and are now in control of the organisation like Gretchen Carlson the current Chairwoman of the board of directors, who happens to be a Conservative and former Fox News host, who won the competition in 1989

Continue to make fools of yourselves in the comments, anyone with any sense can use ration to separate fact from fiction

    Won’t be watching then.

  17. Anonymous says:

Well who the heck will watch these airheads with clothes on??

  18. Anonymous says:

Good for Miss America! Women will still be able to display their incredible beauty. Hopefully more ladies who are equally beautiful will not now feel intimidated by some of the more “physically beauties”.

Time to dump pageants all together.
