This is getting rather tiresome. It’s like the boy who cried wolf! People are losing interest with the stories of these so called “runaways.” I know CNS has to report these under age girls as missing but we don’t seem to hear of the outcome when they are found and returned. Is there a problem at the home? Where were they found? Who was hiding them? Or are they just a wild child that no one can do anything with. I’m sure the home can’t wait until these children come of age so that they can run away for ever!

Stop trying to always blame Francis Bodden. By all means investigate and inspect regularly as well as have community advocates. But these girls need ongoing professional psychological support to heal the trauma of their early childhoods. In Cayman we are fond of the beautiful phrase “it takes a village to rear a child” but that is the opposite of what happens. These traumatized children are let down by a dysfunctional social services and a special education needs department that is a shambles. Their needs are not being met by the professionals and all Francis Bodden can do is try their best. If their best is not enough then stop running these facilities like prisons and put in proper therapeutic centers headed by those specifically trained.

Please……….. it is FRANCES Bodden Girls Home. Miss Frances was a great old Caymanian lady of blessed memory. Constantly mis-spelling her name as Francis (a man’s name) is insulting to Miss Frances’ memory.

I feel so sad for these young women. They have no hope, and no future. They have been failed on every front. Parents, Government, (boyfriend’s too). Next thing she will knocked up, with a kid and then what? No real education, no future prospects. The baby’s father will dump her, and she will be on the dole. And of course he will not be held responsible, because it will be her fault.
