Over decades you have had a number of problems with criminals then groups organized loosely as a gang, to the destination of children to middle aged men adopting a gang structure of criminality. Between the gross failure of the Education system, to the foolish repetitive studies of social failures, trying to emulate a youth that of East LA, as the core problem , to the consistent production of the Baby Mommas, who like rabbits are successful in multiplying, to a Police Commisoner that claimed there were a tiny number of real problem citizens, to the prideful persona of “furuna take my job” is the root of what we are seeing. Plant a fruit tree and care for it, nurture it, and it should bear fruit. This is what Cayman directly and indirectly , intentionally and unintentionally has done with some of its populace. You allow the above then allow the infiltration of our nieghboors to the East to pillage by offering daily flights and open harbour surrounding all three islands and you do not have an idea why and how we have gang rapes, home invasions etc. This will never be solved by any study nor plan. Cayman needs to get ready for more of the same, as many other jursidictions have proven that this type of ill society takes decades of correction. Cayman has given far too many carrots and needs more stick!

We have a small percentage of the male populace that is unemployable and not educated past middle school level. Years of succession to the graduation to the American and Jamician style of gang culture and this is the result. When in addition you have legal and illegal immigrants here doing criminal acts you cannot expect a different outcome. Years of neglect to the issues of a culture of gangs taking hold, years of talk shop on education that is just that, talk, years of restricting and restructuring a Police service that has become a step above an impotent Bull in a field of cows, years of neglecting the overall Judicial system is the blame. Crack was the start of this path we are on. Be thankful that this is not as bad as it could be as we are very lucky that there are many in our community that still hold good values and value citizenship in all of its definition.

Gang rape, now home invasion. Nothing new just business as usual, Cayman is gone the politicians are just scuttling the ship. We the people don’t matter.

If this were true, it would have happened already. As they (criminal offenders) can get away with it (on all three islands) it will surely continue and increase.

Watch this space chances are no one will be convicted for this crime. Even if this thug gets caught he will use the ‘boys will be boys’ defense that is regularly getting criminals off with suspended sentences. This sh#@ will continue until we have a government that cares enough about the crime that is destroying our country to pass laws that get the criminals off the streets and keeps them off the streets..

The home invader is probably someone recently let out of prison after serving 3 days of a 6 week sentence for a prior home invasion. Until we change our laws to end soft sentences and the revolving doors at the prison it will only get worse.

The prison is full. For crying out loud the criminals knows this. Even if they get caught they are back out on the street. There is no deterrent to crime in the Cayman Islands, all we need is the port and this country is good. SMH

This Island is slipping into the pits of hell. While I don’t expect any one entity to eliminate crime, it is obvious to me that the government is clueless as to what to do, has to plan or vision.

Instead, we are letting in uneducated, poverty (frame of mind, not about money) and ignoring our own home grown issues.

    Thus will only get worse.
