Webster to serve 6 years for child sex crimes

(CNS): Former firefighter and political hopeful, Errington Webster (55), has been handed a six-year prison term for the sexual offences he committed against a 13-year-old girl in 2016. Justice Charles Quin described Webster’s offences as “grave” and that his responsibility for the crimes was “very high”, even though Webster refuses to accept his conviction. “What is deeply unattractive is he blames everyone except himself for these guilty verdicts,” the judge said.

Webster has, however, avoided the imposition of a sexual harm prevention order because Justice Quin found it could not be applied retrospectively.

The legislation provides for such orders to ensure sexual offenders who are released from jail continue to be monitored by the authorities to keep them away from potential victims. Only one order has been imposed so far. This was against Ronnie Ebanks for his sexual offence, which had also been committed before the law changed, but no argument had been made on his behalf during his sentencing by Justice Marva McDonald-Bishop.

Justice Quin explained that the law does not provide for a retrospective application and that he did not have the legal power to impose such an order.

If Webster is released before he has served the full six years, he will be released on licence, but once the full term is completed, there will be no lawful way to supervise Webster or protect vulnerable young girls from him, despite his prominent position in the community, where he is still seen by several church leaders and community members as a man of integrity and exemplary character, as set out in references given to the court.

Quin imposed the six-year sentence for Webster’s conviction for gross indecency, which formed the centre of the evidence against him at trial, after his young victim videoed the community leader masturbating in his car when she was present and asking her to spit on his penis. But Webster continued to deny any knowledge of the incident, claiming he had suffered some kind of catatonic moment as a result of drinking a dietary supplement mixed with grapefruit after taking his heart medication.

He was also given three five-year terms, which will run concurrently with the six-year sentence, for three convictions of gross indecency that took place at his home in his daughter’s bedroom and in his car.

Justice Quin justified the length of the sentences when he pointed to the list of aggravating factors, including the grooming of the child, the abuse of the trust place in him by the community and the young girl’s family, his manipulation of the girl and her vulnerability, as well as his complete lack of remorse. The only mitigation the judge found in Webster’s favour was his previous clean record.

What good are multiple convictions if the sentences are not consecutive?? This is utter nonsense and has gone on for far too long! Why bother charging for the multiple offences if the penalty is the same as for only one? Utter madness that presents NO DETERRENT!

    Heterosexuality. Homosexuality. Pedophelia.

All are variants of sexual orientation, and by the application of modern political-correctness (e.g. gay marriage), all are “naturally occuring” in the human species.

Interestingly, the trending movement becomes rather hypocritical when they condemn the inescapable parallel that comes about when we deviate from the standpoint of upholding only one sexual orientation as sacred and supreme.

This is not to discredit the deep-seeded reality of any individual, and consenting adults can do with one another as they wish.
However, we should NEVER demote heterosexuality by even suggesting any other category of pairing is comparable.

The male:female dynamic of nature is the most powerful and sensitive force in our universe. We should act accordingly.
Most of all, we cannot allow society to be led by “feelings” in respect to the issue at hand.

The life-giving, regenerative essence of nature doesn’t give a hot damn about anyone’s feelings; straight, gay and otherwise.

No other sexual orientation is “equal” to heterosexuality – and not only because all others rely thereon to exist in the first place.

Lastly, Webster, you are a dirty old man. Shame on you.

(Sexual orientation is the operative term above and should not be confused with sexual intercourse / actions / assaults.)

      Your points are valid.

However we would never know the grand scheme of things. We can only make conclusions based on what we know. And we know nothing.

Nature is perfect as is. It knows exactly what to do for universe to exist It knows how to spin its orbits, balance ocean temperature, protect earth’s atmosphere and furlilize amazon, where calcium and magnesium go, how to create a complex organism from literally nothing.

Yet it created a creature with what we call consciousness who is trying to learn, discover what nature ALREADY knows. This creature seems to be capable of one thing only- destroying all and everything.

The question is WHY nature that makes no mistakes and already knows everything, created such a monster and made him self aware? we would never know.

Feel free to read and try again though.

Btw, in your blaze of ignorance, you failed to realize that heterosexuality was also put “on the same level”.
(Hope this helps you to understand and maybe advance your perspective beyond the usual boundaries.)

Actually, I think you put paedophilia on the same level as hetereosexuality – at least, to the extent that involves opposite sexes and the girl is old enough to conceive – and homosexuality below both. The life giving regenerative essence apparently more important than informed, adult consent it seems. Bit like the stone ages I suppose. Hope to Christ you don’t have young female children.

You too are misinterpreting my post.

I simply highlighted the fact that the moment we entertain the notion of a variance of “natural” sexual orientations – we run into a few discomforting realities.

It was not very long ago that homosexuality was considered a “sexual disorder”, however, social pressure and the supposed realisation of the high rate of occurrence combined to reverse this categorisation.

In regards to pedophilia, the only component missing is the public pressure to recategorise as it is clear to all there is a very high rate of occurrence thereof as well.

Are we saying we selectively respect the truths of (human) nature?
Or could it be that traditional stances were on to something?

well if you want to rant on about how nature is perfect.

a girl hits puberty and wants sex. And a guy or man wants to have sex with her. And she consents.

It’s that your perfect nature saying it’s perfectly natural?

    • Anonymous says:

Pedophilia is a sexual disorder which by its nature involves preying on young people who are not able to make a conscious decision to engage in sexual activity. I am not aware of examples of this behaviour being found outside of human beings. Heterosexuality and Homosexuality are attractions and actions between consenting adult members of opposite/same gender, and are found throughout nature (where there is no order of correctness). They are not sononomous and to suggest otherwise is to reduce the incredibly damaging and horrible nature of this crime just because of a bigotry against homosexuality. This anology is not waranted here; whatever your views of homosexuality it has no place in the discussion of this man’s actions and punishment which are in this story’s commentary.

Disgusting! This young girl was 13 years old. thinking about this makes me feel physically sick. This abuser is going to serve a measley 6 years. This man has proven that he is not capable of upholding the responsibilities of living in a civil society. For this reason, he needs to spend his life outside of this community and away from our children forever. I do not believe that there is treatment for pedophilia. I am so disappointed and disgusted by the lenience given by the courts. It is not fair to the past or future victims. He may not be able to control himself but that means only that he needs to live a life that is different than the rest of us – he needs to be in jail.

The Bodden Town Ministers that demonstrated their culpability in paedophilia and Cayman’s widespread family abuse should be identified. How can these scumbags be allowed to “lead” congregations and collect money from their flock, when they are so willing to look the other way on abuses against their children. It’s revolting.

Even if he had a catatonic episode why did he committed such action. If he had good intentions and kind thoughts before the incident then he probably would not exhibit such darkness. What is in our hearts will come forth, whether good or evil. Do not blame meds and grapefruit juice, blame our intentions.
