(CNS): A 51-year-old woman was killed on Cayman Brac after two cars crashed on Bight Road late last night. CNS understand that the woman who died at the scene was a nurse, originally from Jamaica. According to the police report, she was driving a Toyota RAV4 when it collided head-on with a Honda Integra at around 11:00 last night (Tuesday 27 February) near Tibbett’s Turn, Watering Place. The man driving the Honda Integra was taken to the Faith Hospital, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said they are investigating the cause of the crash, which was the Cayman Islands’ second fatal road collision of the year.

Road collisions continue to be a major concern across Cayman after statistics recently released by the RCIPS demonstrate that road crashes have more than doubled over the last two years, with 26 lives lost on the roads since 2015.

Very sad to read about a nurse who spends long hours caring for the sick and infirm losing her life in such a tragic accident.
As annual long term vacationers to Cayman Brac and avid cyclists we have recently seen an increase in motorists speeding well over the 40mph limit which in this small and idyllic island is totally reckless and unnecessary, two minutes saved on a journey in this little island is not worth spending an eternity in a graveyard !! also the widespread use of a cell phone stuck to your ear while driving is a total distraction which in the UK now carries a jail term if a death is caused in an accident.
Local cops please note that a speed gun would catch the early morning speeders especially on the south side road around 8am, that and hefty fines for the cell phone users would dramatically reduce the road deaths on this island.

Policing needs to be improved on Cayman Brac. Please look into the amount of vehicular deaths in Cayman Brac caused speeding and DUI.

Lately I’ve been seeing a lot more police cars on the road and that alone is causing people to slow down which is nice. Keep this up RCIPS, we legal observant drivers appreciate it!

Very said to hear. I don’t understand why people are not paying attention on the roads.
CNS it would be nice if you can say whether the nurse was wearing a seat belt And circumstances surrounding the accidents.

you are asking, if she was wearing a seat belt and no question about the other driver as if it is her fault. the fact that his name is not mentioned says a lot. Caymanian?

My God. why asking if the woman was wearing a seatbelt, look how many people get into accidents and died wearing seatbelts.
That question is not relevant at all, the woman already dead leave her 8 years old child motherless. Just give some condolences to the child and family thats all we need to do at this time
