Speaker takes apolitical tone in New Year message

| 02/01/2018 | 28 Comments

(CNS): For the first time in many years, McKeeva Bush has taken a completely apolitical position in his New Year message to the community. Despite being part of the coalition government that helped to secure Premier Alden McLaughlin a second term, the speaker took a very neutral position when he delivered his address to his constituents this weekend. The message, which was posted on the CIGTV website, focused on the blessings that people enjoy in Cayman and urged people to be good to each other.

Bush told the people that Cayman had fared well over the past year and that there would always be some in need more than others, as he urged people to give thanks for the successes and gifts Cayman enjoys. He urged people to be good to each other as he wished the country a Happy New Year.

Cayman has a famously short memory when it comes to politicians, and Mac has benefited from that more than most. Please don’t be fooled by the “new” McKeeva even if you can’t remember all the things he has done, remember that he used the credit card of his staunchly anti-gambling administration to spend hundred of thousands in a casino (while he was on “business travel”) and that he was arrested for sexually assaulting a waitress (in a casino) in JULY 2017! He is a washed up has-been and he’s only the speaker because of all the dirt he has on others. He should get literally zero votes in the next election.

People of the Cayman Islands- cant you see this is ALL about POWER. Alden did this to retain his Premiership and Mac took Speaker but is calling the shots. So BOTH are power hungry morons that don’t give a rats ass about ANYONE other than themselves. Both are as about as useful as 2 teats on a boar hog. They both cannot accept the fact that outside of West Bay for Mackeeva and George Town for Alden, their respective parties have NO support. What we as a nation needs to do, is call for a referendum and remove them.

Don’t blame “people of the Cayman Islands”, as the majority of the population were not responsible for the bunch of jokers voted in in the last election. Blame the minority voting population.

Most of our elected members past and present have a history of truly shameful destruction of the English language.

Imagine, Mckeeva represented us around the world, they must think we live in caves and that our only use is to hid their money deep in our tunnels

Hello fellow citizens of the Cayman Islands!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please not forget we voted the present government in. Therefore, we truly have yourselves to blame. Our Politicians will continue to do as they please even though some may think it is in the best interest of the people of the Cayman Islands. What needs to be done is simply this: we must see to it that our Politicians are made accountable for their actions.

The time is now for the people of the Cayman Islands to stand up and demand true representation. We cannot afford to allow our Politicians to continue to play lip service to us while ensuring that they secure their own future and that of their own families and to hell with the rest of us.

Please do not forget that what we allow our Politicians to do today will fall right back on our children and their children and the other generations to follow.

I would hate to know that the future of our people are in the hands of a few who truly same not to follow suit on their promises made prior to being elected. It it obvious that their ACTIONS are speaking much louder than their WORDS.

WE MUST NOW DEMAND MORE OF OUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES!!!!!!!!!!! We MUST let them know what we want, how we want it and when we want it. We MUST do so NOW!!! If not, there will be no Cayman Islands left for any of us to really be proud of and in turn, say we are proud to be CAYMANIANS.

Then why Is it we keep electing the same people in. I voted Mervin but got Bernie…. that’s the West Bay problem but tell me why Wayne lost to a John John…. talk about taking a loss on that one.
But it’s the voters to blame. We the ones putting the greed back in office.

Thr unfortunate truth is, the majority of our people lack the ability to think critically. Therefore, like other Caribbean nations, we will only slip deeper into a state of impoverishment, uncontrolled crime, and more crime.

McKeeva sold out his district and his party for the Speaker’s position. Does anybody know whatever happened to that lawsuit against Alden?

It went away as part of the deal along with the lawsuit that Alden had against him. All is fair in love, war and politricks.

Aldin gave Mac a driver but when Mac hired Ms Mary he didn’t give her one.
That seems so unfair, even though a bit late I think Ms Mary should get a driver now as well.

Arden and Ezzard’s group offered him the Speaker’s position and a Ministerial seat for Bernie but that obviously wasn’t as valuable as some of the other perks like business class travel, a car and driver and no more lawsuit.
