Victim escapes attempted rape in West Bay

(CNS) UPDATED: Police are investigating another sexual offence report, this time regarding an alleged attempted rape early Saturday morning, 2 December. Police had said a woman was given a ride home by an acquaintance but have since clarified to say  that she had not met the man until the night before the assault. Instead of driving the woman home he took her to a secluded location in the Morgan’s Harbour area of West Bay. The man began making aggressive sexual advances towards her, tearing at her clothing. Following a struggle the woman ran from the car to a nearby house and knocked on the door  where the resident called the police.

Police and an ambulance responded to the scene, and emergency personnel attended to the woman, who had suffered minor physical injuries. The suspect is about 5’7” and was wearing a dark blue shirt. He was driving a silver motor vehicle.

The report comes in the wake of another report of a woman being raped on Seven Mile Beach by a stranger, also in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact George Town Police Station at 949-4222.  Anonymous tips can be provided to the RCIPS Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777, the Miami-based call centre of Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS), or online here.

If she met him the night before she may not know a lot about the guy. She may have been introduced through a friend or spoke to him briefly which is very impersonal.

Everyone needs to be aware that Cayman is no longer the place it used to be. You can’t catch rides with strangers (or someone you just met), you can’t walk alone anywhere after dark, you can’t leave your house unlocked and better have a security system and some dogs, and you to regularly check if your boat is still where you left it and if the engines are still on it. As of recent, you may also have to check regularly whether your car is still parked where you left it cause car theft is also now on the rise.

But instead of enforcing the laws and showing tough love all the way around, we are “URGING” people to obey the law and we certainly don’t want to alienate the riders of those illegal bikes. WTH?

Good for you girl. Glad you made it out!! Now if he is an acquaintance – give the full details to the RCIPS and let them prosecute him to the full extent of the law!

Anonymous 8:14am , but Cayman did away with the death penalty, so what is the use of giving the scumbag 6 months to a year . Keeping that kind in prison just makes them hornyier that when they come out they rape more Ladies . I say bring back the death penalty just for those kind .

We don’t have the death penalty so they could try chemical castration or even physical castration if it is within the law. Require them to take libido reduction shots every few days to eliminate the urge.

Rape is not about being ‘horney’. Edumacate yourself.

        • Anonymous says:

Rape is about dominating and feeling in control of another person, it has to do with urges that are separate from the normal human urge to get off, hence the majority of persons don’t rape but everyone (or the vast majority of persons want to get off)

Wait a minute. If the attacker was an acquaintance of the victim, then we already know who it is. Why isn’t his name being reported? Why isn’t there a manhunt for him?

12:48 and 1:09 pm , there’s a lot of things going on in these reports . I wish that the Police would read both of your comments then they might learn something .
I don’t understand who could have said the height of the scumbag and that he was driving a silver motor vehicle . I hope that the victim can give a lil better description of the vehicle and the scumbag

Ladies you all better remember to use your knife and cell phone for more than just texting if you want to get rid of these two leged scumbags and remember to have fun but don’t get drunk .

You’re not as bright as you would like to think, with your knee-jerk, know-nothing police bashing, and bad spelling. Many times victims do not give better descriptions, for a whole list of reasons. Police often have very vague descriptions to work with.

she clarified that she had only met him the night before , so he could have given her any name , and she wouldn’t know whether it was false or not , don’t blame the young lady ,

By an acquaintance and that’s the only description? Just curious who is cocking up the information here, the witnesses or the police?
