Please! Stop blaming these children! If they felt love and being wanted they would not rebel! It’s a terrible thing to not feel like you belong! Where are her parents? And what is the problem with the home they are placed in? It seems like they are being ill treated!

16 is the legal age of consent in Cayman Island. I think all you should get over this and let her be the adult that the Cayman Law states. If you want her to be a child then change the law.

This young ladies file needs to be reviewed. Why is she at the home in the first place? Perhaps she is running to her childhood home/relatives each time. Is she a victim of circumstance and looking for parental figures in her life? And a review of the Francis Home may be due too.

The whole of the social welfare system needs reviewing. Why is Francis Home always in the news. How does that home operate? Is it a place that replicates true home living or does it follow the illreputed American system of rewards and sanctions i.e. is it a containment centre or a safe home environment that provides much needed therapy for our troubled teens.

The girls problems are the reason she and others are in the home. These girls had a really bad start in life, can’t help what they’re born into. The parents just continue breed and history repeats itself again. This is the root of the problem. Often times by the time they reach the home, it’s way too late already. Very sad.

Does this young lady not realize the waste of time, energy and let us not forget the use of the public purse that goes into locating her and bringing her back to the Francis Bodden Girls’ Home in Bodden Town. Maybe she should be slapped with some kind of court appearance and a fined every time she runs away.

On the other hand she is,16 now, two years shy of 18 – adulthood. Misses, I would advice you to take every opportunity that is afforded now to you. For example, you have a roof over your head, food to eat, a bed to sleep in and an opportunity to go to school to get an education that you so need if you are to get any type of job. Count your blessings now misses. If you are behaviouring like this now well you are in for a shock after you turn 18. I am quite sure no one will give a hoot about your whereabouts, or whether you have a mouth full of food to eat each day, somewhere to live, clothes and shoes to wear and whether you are capable of taking care of yourself.

Grow up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do not care how bad things are or appear to be right now. Adulthood is anything but a bed of roses misses.

She is a product of a society unable to cope with dysfunction family units, a welfare system that is broken and a society that does not much care.

What is happening at the Francis Bodden Girls Home? Girls are running away on a regular basis. Has no one wondered why? These children must feel in danger there to be running away so frequently. I think that there needs to be and inquiry and surprise inspection set up at the home.

I agree 100% 1.54pm these girls definitely need an ankle bracelet to keep track on them. Unfortunately, I feel they have a real problem and will go through life with no job or education. Next on their bucket list will be unwanted pregnancy with yet again no father taking responsibility. I’m sure this home has professional people that have been speaking to these children every time they have been returned. What have they concluded?? I often wonder what has happened to these children since birth. Where are the parents? Why are they in this home? It is a real sad case. What chance in life are they going to have. You really need to have professional people from the UK to support and help these children from a young age that have gone off the rails. The Child Protection Team definitely need the right leadership because they haven’t got the experience required to take this extremely important and necessary Department forward.

Why is Cayman is the child always blamed? She clearly has needs that are not being met by the “home”. Has this home ever been inspected? Have the young people ever been asked what is it about the home they find so unattractive that they prefer the streets. Remember many of them will not be running to their parental homes as they have been placed in Francis Bodden home because their own homes were so unsafe.

Isn’t it about time that this girl and the others who are often running away, are fitted with gps trackers for their own protection, and for the police to identify who is harbouring them? You can’t help but think these girls are in danger of being abused, and it’s probably already happening. Looking for love in all the wrong places 🙁

They wouldn’t have the potential to be abused in this capacity if the home was somewhere they felt comfortable in ( Do you think they are running away from the home because it is a fun, safe, loving environment for them to live in?)

I do not agree with fitting gps. They are not criminals but simply children who have probably already being abused and children who have been sorely let down by the broken system of welfare we have.
