Health warning to drug users

| 28/12/2017 | 38 Comments

Cayman News ServiceA CNS reader writes: Users are largely unaware that incoming drugs are highly likely to have been already laced with potentially deadly, highly addictive, cheaper, internet mail-order synthetic opioids (in addition to the normal toxic production chemicals). Those in denial, or blindly trusting their dealer with their lives, are either high right now, or a soon to be casualty of the international drug economy.

GT Hospital should be stocking up on Naxoline injection kits, because the scourge of overdose victims is coming, if it isn’t already here. We’ve only been lucky if we’ve avoided this global problem so far. It only takes 2 milligrams of fentanyl, “the equivalent of a few grains of table salt”, to cause a fatal overdose.

According to US DoJ data, in Florida, seized marijuana from Jamaica and Mexico has been found to have been laced with other drugs, including PCP (phencyclidine) and crack cocaine for almost 20 years.

No remorse at all, idiots putting the white stuff into their bodies deserve to be poisoned. Hope it’s the best and last trip they’ve ever had if they get lucky.

Never understood the addiction & drug culture , but acknowledge its a worldwide problem. Why do drugs , when you can fly a kite ?

US pharmaceutical industry is the biggest drug dealing organization in the world. Also employs the most Washington DC lobbyists of any industry. Bigger than even defense. That should tell you all you need to know.

Yes, the lower end press run such scare stories every year and just change the steer name every two or three years. Drugs can be tremendous fun.

Damn! When you mentioned opioids, I was really hoping that you were talking about the drug dealing doctors here who still write scripts knowing the damage it’s causing.

WHO just put out a report stating that most of the “prescribed” meds in this region are mostly diluted. I’m sure cns can pull the article for confirmation.

Cayman and Bermuda have always been adversaries. Maybe Cayman can follow their route with the cannabis legalization just laid iut the other day.

Alot of you people have no idea what you’re talking about. Plants sprayed with gasoline? This island will be much better when most of you older ppl with closed minds kick the bucket. By the way… no coke dealer is gonna waste coke to lace weed. Coke is more expensive so that would make no sense… some of you sound really stupid.

That “nice guy” that high-fived you at the party discreetly passes you a spliff and you light it up trustingly, not knowing there are a couple of surprise crack cocaine rocks rolled in there…guess who owns you now? He didn’t waste any crack…he’s a crack dealer. Heroin dealers do the same thing. Who’s the stupid one for putting trust in a drug dealer? This is the common situation that plays out everywhere in the world.

Similarly, without a lab, nobody can tell by looking at or smelling your cannabis if it’s contaminated with pesticides (banned or otherwise), residual solvents, molds or laced with other drugs. They are. The producers use whatever’s at hand to protect their crop, maximize yield, and potency. Few have access to legal quantities of agricultural chemicals. Even in legal-USA production, there are producers cutting corners with cut-grade chemicals. Lots of articles on this.

A spliff with crack cocaine in it cant hide… it would smell horrible. Smells nothing like weed should smell like. Anyone familiar with weed or coke knows this. That being said i still know of a few ppl that have had that happen to them. But none of them got addicted to cocaine because of it.. it made them feel sick and stuff but your point about coke dealers using this to gain new customers is BS.

Fyi… we dont have a heroin or pcp problem here in cayman. You sound like the kind of person that reads articles about other countries but know nothing about whats going on here. Most of the weed here comes from jamaica and jamaican farmers are known for growing naturally… they dont even use nutrients on plants.

How amusing, when someone who knows nothing about drugs pontificates. This one was going Full Nancy Reagan. I love the suggestion that a toke of a cocoa puff is going to turn someone into a full-on crack-head.

Psychoactive additives are common now, with Phencyclidine (PCP) not necessarily cocaine being one of those. Of course, young know-it-alls might not know the difference, and ironically, this is what your dealer “with the good weed” is counting on. Young, rich, know-it-all kids, with access to parent’s cash or jewelry are the textbook victim profile.

Lmao at idiots like you.. please stop crying wolf talking about pcp and stuff thats very very rarely on our island… never heard of pcp being here and heard of heroin once or twice on island. We have a cocaine and pill problem. When other drugs like pcp, crystal meth and herion become a problem here you will wish all the youngsters were smoking weed.

Purity issues are a function of drugs being illegal. Making drugs illegal costs many lives and funnels super-profits into criminal and terrorists networks. Legalisation would be a far better response.

Sad, but on the other hand, a strong argument for decriminalizing and regulating all drugs, as per the Portugal model.

Wasting finite public resources and trusting a CI Gov’t agency to decide the acceptable quantity of bleach and gasoline to snort up your nose, or diesel sprayed ganja to combust, when any child could tell you there is no “safe” amount even before these common drugs are further adulterated.

It is a handy strategy if you have a staff member on a training in condition on their permit too.

I’ve been saying this a long time. There must be a coverted mission to destroying the minds of our young people, so to further create brain damaged young Caymanians, make them lazy, deadbeats, and reason not to hold key positions in our country. If you think it sounds like conspiracy, think again.

The mixture of chemicals in food and water is happening world wide, and black native people are as well being targetted. In the United States we see Flint. This is nothing new. We are a small island, but very naive people especially with our young. If they can throw mixtures in our foods, why not in the drugs to set them off?

Practically all drugs are shipped, and that means the dealers for profit reasons, could put more addictive mixtures in the drugs to secure their customers. In the marajuana they are putting dangerous substances in them. We have to educate our young about these dangers. Its not like pure marajuana you will see planted in Jamaica. Alot of changes takes place to packages before they arrive here. So people place drugs in condoms and stick them up their rectum … so you dont know how it comes here.

Parents need to always talk to their young people to think smart. Most of these children into drugs are from broken homes because sadly married couples are not faithful, and men are all about making babies and not raising a family. People have left out God and Caymans society is getting worse. Young people are left to themselves, and satan are taking advantage of the situation, poisoning the minds of our youngsters.

Diesel fuel is sprayed on the plants as a cheaper pesticide in Jamaica and much of the South American production regions. Illicit large scale farmers cannot order crop-size quantities of legal pesticides without drawing attention. Gasoline and bleach are also part of the production process. Nothing wholesome at all about any of these cash crops. Health and welfare of downstream customers is not of any concern.

Considering that drug use is pretty much ubiquitous across human culture, what makes you feel that there is something fundamentally unique about drug supply and consumption in the Cayman Islands?
I’m not sure if you understand the definition of conspiracy theory but this fits the definition comfortably.
Furthermore what does your generic invocation of a religious deity have to do with any of what you posted? What does your relationship with mythology have to do with adulterated substances and drug policy?
I wish ppl would educate themselves on topics before offering their uneducated opinions and miseducating others who are seemingly incapable of critical thought.

It’s an overt profit agenda, perpetrated by calculating evil people without any concern for victims. There are dozens of known third and second world factories pumping this stuff out and delivering globally. Just yesterday, China told the USA to stop creating the commercial demand?!?
