1995 Silver Honda Civic similar to the one stolen

(CNS): Car thieves’ attraction for Hondas shows no sign of abating, with the theft of another Honda Civic yesterday. Police said the 1995 silver car, registration 147 910, was taken sometime between 10:00pm on Sunday and 8:30am yesterday from an undisclosed location in West Bay. The theft follows the theft of a blue Honda Civic in Prospect overnight on Saturday-Sunday and a recent spate of thefts of Honda CRVs.

Anyone with information regarding this latest stolen car is asked to call 911 or the West Bay Police Station at 949-3999.  Anonymous tips can be provided to the RCIPS Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777, the Miami-based call centre of Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS), or online here.

What the dickens is it about Honda Civics? Not only are they the number one choice for morons to drive like maniacs on our roads, they are also the number one vehicle to get nicked and chopped up for parts. Personally I’d ban them from being sold or driven on Grand Cayman as they present a real safety hazard for normal drivers. Failing this I’d set up a special court to deal with the miscreants driving them.

It would be interesting to know how these thieves are able to steal these Honda vehicles. Is it suspected that they have a master key or something? Are there signs of force entry? Is it because persons are leaving their vehicles open with the keys in the ignition? Are they hot wiring the vehicles? The public would like to know.
