Victim stabbed in one of two violent robbery attempts

(CNS): Police are investigating two separate violent attempted robberies that happened over the weekend. The first attack took place in the early hours of Saturday morning and resulted in the victim being stabbed in his leg and his arm. Police said that just before 1:00am on 4 November, officers were called to the Accident and Emergency room at the George Town hospital, where a man was being treated for stab wounds. He told the police that just as he arrived at his home in Washington Blvd, George Town, he was approached and attacked by two unknown men, who demanded his cell phone.

The victim fought off the robbers but during the fight he was stabbed once in the leg and again in the arm.

A relative in a private car took him to the hospital, where he was treated and has since been released. He told the police that the two suspects were men dressed in all black clothing, but as the area was not well lit he could not give any other details.

The following night, 5 November, police received another report from a woman who reported that she had been walking home along Boilers Road in George Town at around 9:20pm when she was approached by a man who placed a sharp object in her side and demanded money.

She said the man was startled by a passing vehicle and ran off towards the waterfront. She told police that she did not see the man and was not able to provide a description.

The police are urging the public to exercise caution when walking at night as they investigate the two violent, if foiled, attempts to rob victims.

“If an area is not well lit, then avoid walking through it altogether or carry a flashlight. Try to walk in a group, if possible, and be aware of your surroundings,” an RCIPS spokesperson said, as they urged people to call 911 if they see any suspicious activity.

Anyone with information on the latest robbery attempts is asked to call George Town Police Station at 949-4222.  Anonymous tips can be provided to the RCIPS Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777, the Miami-based call centre of Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS), or online here.

Being better than Jamaica and Trinidad etc., doesn’t make all this ever increasing crime right. There’s nothing wrong with immigrants, every country needs them. The UK wouldn’t survive without the vast number of Doctors, Nurses and other hospital staff. The trouble is, you need to stop every Tom, Dick and Harry and his grandmother entering these islands that can’t be productive. UK residents can’t just walk in here and hang about the streets committing robberies to survive. We have to have employment and permits in place before arriving. We can only take vacation here and allowed only a certain amount of time by immigration on arrival. Extensions of time is permitted providing we have the financial means to support ourselves and not seek gainful employment. Why are neighbouring island residents allowed in to do menial jobs and some not even have employment at all, that Caymanians could and should do?? They wouldn’t allow me or any other person from the UK to do these type of jobs. You have English and Americans working behind bars and in shops. These are unskilled workers. They are not trades people like Carpenters or Plumbers or site supervisors etc., Caymanians are quite capable of doing this type of work……..unless of course they feel too big to do such jobs.

More population doesnt mean more crime. Puluation from shit families does, which is exactly where these scumbags come from.

The police are urging the public to exercise caution when walking at night, walking during the morning, walking during the afternoon, sleeping, having breakfast, reading the news paper, having a bath, going for a bike ride, swimming, driving your car, taking the bus, doing laundry, washing dishes… ect ect ect!

Basically we aren’t safe doing anything and the police can not protect us so EXERCISE CAUTION!!

This has nothing to do with Development & Growth and everything to do with a dysfunctional Law Enforcement and Legal system that has and continues to fail the citizens of this country.

As someone prospers someone elsemust suffer, there is a finite amount of resources in any economy, our goal should be to limit the negative effects on those who don’t have the economic means to further themselves.

Wrong. A persons prosperity need not come out of someone else’s hide. It’s not just about dividing up the pie. It’s about creating more pie. That’s how the world has more total wealth than it did before. This has happened in Cayman. Caymanians are clearly more prosperous than they have ever been.

wrong. the driver of economy is new idea, not finate resources. Online business millionaries need no resources, they are built on new ideas. So is hedge fund investing.

Well it is a helluva lot better that the Bahamas, Jamaica, Trinidad etc. Must be the calming influence of all those work permit holders and driftwood.

The stupid people say we need more people, increase the population, really. We need to decrease the population, even if it means sending more to HMP for a long long time.
