I would like to ask one question and that is ” Who made Cayman a good and safe place in the first instance for people to want to come here”? When we had Leaders such as the Late Hon Dennis Foster and so forth not to mention the late James M Bodden or better known as Daddy Jim and others this was a paradise. XXXXX But please stop talking about uneducated Caymanians. A Teacher once told me that good behavior is an education by itself. Our Country would have run ashore too like where some of our refugees are coming from if we did not have smart intelligent educated people. Come on just be grateful and live in appreciation and harmony. We all need each other to make a better world. However these mentioned Departments need alittle face lift with some of our own people. Our boys complain that sides are taken when there is a problem whether it is driving fights or whatever and this is totally wrong. Just give a Caymanian a chance and they can go far. We made the best seamen and now some of the best pilots. Cayman men has travelled all over the world and is very versed in experience. Lets just take an example of what the Fire Department was like when it was under the Leadership of Mr Nixon and a crew of 100% Cayman men.

CNS: Do not describe human beings as “mixed breed”. It is disgusting racism. Humans are not dogs. We are not breeds.

Not because you are unemployed will be a qualification! Caymanians who are qualified and have Cayman at heart used this opportunity to apply do not let expats continue to dominate these services especially the RCIP. That ‘s why they had to end up employing domestics nannies low-skilled people to the RCIP and you see the results. Unsolved crimes , low morals, unprofessionalism. Bring back high morals, professionalism to your Island essential services.

“Very Concerned” – I think you are a little confused, are you suggesting that employing Caymanians (especially from the unemployed pool), will bring back high morals and professionalism. If so, then I am more confused than you are.

I’m certainly not confused Veritas. Being an expat myself and an ex RCIPS officer, I am sick and tired of some Caymanians posting of how expats are taking all their jobs on this island. Totally untrue! However, if some, and I’m not saying all, Caymanians are continual moaners that won’t even want to get off their backsides to get a good education and show interest in anything apart from drugs, robbing people and stealing Honda cars it’s no wonder that employers favour expats. We haven’t come all this way for your sunshine. We come to work and provide a good standard of living and a better quality of life for our families. You ALL have had the same opportunities to educate yourselves to an acceptable standard for any job. Look how many Caymanians have high profile jobs. I applaud each and everyone of them. Even you have to understand that not every job is suitable for every person. I had a good private education but I couldn’t be a CEO of a banking corporation. You cut your cloth according to the width. It’s all about attitude and what you want out of life. If you are willing to learn, the opportunities are there.

    • In the past, attempts to recruit Caymanians for the police force has had limited success. Expats will have to take the majority of these new openings. Just because a Caymanian is unemployed does not make him or her qualified to work for the police force in Cayman.

Well, come on all you Caymanian doubting Thomas’ that constantly complain that RCIPS only want expat Police Officers, now’s your chance. There’s plenty of you not working blaming expats for taking your jobs. Let’s see what you are made of now. Take interest, be prepared to work hard, have the right attitude and a good and worthwhile career is there for the taking………..and the salary is pretty good too!

Caymanians can do it, Show the expats as President Obama’s motto on the campaign trail was YES WE CAN!!!!!! Rise above the level. I am the mother of 2 Caymanian young men living off the Island. My boys have done exceptionally well , have the right qualifications however sadly I have tried to convince them both to return and apply to one of these entity but they both declined. Maybe the CIG should device a way to lure young Caymanians like my sons who is living off the Island to return and make a contribution. Dont concentrate locally.

So your boys are expats somewhere else. I hope they are treated better than expats here. They are taking someone else’s job wherever they are.
        Conscript them into RCIPS
