Dear Police, I appreciate your road blocks and see them as a necessary part of modern society but if you making all the effort to set up a road block, why not go one step further and actually ask for drivers license and vehicle insurance. And give the car a once over. Bald tyres and lights not working as a minimum.

Have a few more officers on duty to issue $ fine tickets there and then – forget the “in the mail” nonsense.
Ticket in hand = no excuse for “I never received it”.
Take photos of the vehicle and driver. upload it to a database and tada.

You get 30 days to pay the fine and get license and insurance in order plus whatever problem was.
Fine cannot be settled without proof of current insurance and current license and requirements fixed.

Only checking the licensing disc with a torch is doing a half job since it’s well known that some people are fiddling the DVL disc to make them look current.

Besides the night road blocks which should be spot checking drivers, The road worthiness of cars can be done in broad daylight ~ walking around Fosters/Kirks/ALT/Camana Bay I see all sorts of offenses. Expired disc. No disc. No license plate. Bald tyres. Broken windscreens. Darkest tint.

And oh while you at it can you stop the public transport & taxis once in a while. I don’t know how some of those vehicles are getting through road worthiness tests let alone driving tests.

Thank you and happy new year.
