(CNS): Public health officials have confirmed that there have been no further confirmed cases of local transmission of the Zika virus over the last two weeks. In the most recent results that the local health authorities have received from the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) in Trinidad, only one blood sample tested positive and that was in a person who had a travel history to a country where the virus is now endemic. The total number of locally transmitted laboratory confirmed cases remains at seventeen, with imported confirmed tested cases is just ten.

Officials said that there have been no further cases of pregnant females testing positive for Zika and only one expectant mother so far has been infected who was tested last month.

There is more information on the Zika virus on the HSA website.
