(CNS): A man and a woman from West Bay have been charged with robbery in connection with a jewel heist at a well-known store on the West Bay Road which happened almost a year ago. Mitzi’s Fine Jewellery was held up on 18 November 2015 and a selection of unique pieces that have never been recovered were stolen. Police said Wednesday that the 31-year-old man was also charged with possession of an imitation firearm. The 38-year-old woman is a former employee who is already serving a six-month term for theft from the store.

Police have not named either of the individuals but CNS has learned that the woman is Madeiny Rodrigues-Ebanks, who pleaded guilty earlier this year to stealing $26,000 worth of jewellery from Mitzi’s when she worked in the store as a clerk.

The man was bailed following charges and both of the suspects will appear in court on 4 October.
