Camana Bay, Grand Cayman

(CNS): The RCIPS has confirmed that officers are investigating a brawl that broke out at Camana Bay on Saturday night involving minors. Police on patrol in the area responded to fights at around 10:30pm and again at 11:30pm but claimed the fighting kids quickly dispersed after their arrival. However, other eye-witness sources told CNS that as many as sixty young people were involved in the “out of control” brawls, which involved rival students from John Gray and Clifton Hunter high schools.

A number of readers contacted CNS about the event and described the incidents as “mayhem” a,nd concerns were raised that several kids had been injured. Police told CNS they had learned that one individual did attend George Town hospital for treatment but said that they had been unable to solicit any information from the youngsters at the time.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Camana Bay stated that they were aware of the fights but that the “incident involving several disruptive individuals” was “quickly controlled” after their own security staff and the RCIPS arrived on the scene. “However it took some time for the crowd of spectators to disperse,” the Dart spokesperson stated, noting that the matter was being investigated by the police, so they were unable to comment further on the specific incident.

The spokesperson added that the safety and security of guests, tenants and employees was their highest priority. “We have security personnel onsite 24 hours a day, and for several years enhanced security on Friday and Saturday nights, which includes contracted officers from the RCIPS… Each day, more than 1,500 people visit Camana Bay and have a great experience.”

With indications that the fights specifically related to school rivalries, CNS also contacted the education department and ministry but no one has responded to the request for comment.

Do not worry people. In time to come, Camana Bay will be a part of the gated community that it was meant to be, so then, no fadus will be allowed to disrupt order and liveliness like what was seen over the last weekend.

Currently the only movie theatre sits in Camana Bay after they ran the other one out of business so is it that only residents and invited guests to Camana Bay will be allowed to patronize the movie theatre? Your comment reflects your intellect.

“Camana Bay” appears to be degenerating into some kind of typical American town where mayhem/trigger-happy coppers is the order of the day..It was a nutcase concept from the get go. Look out for corporate policing along the lines of those machine-gunning robots from “Robocops” in the near future. I’m serious. Hope they get the software fully sorted.

Mixing 11 year old children fresh from primary school with hundreds of sex-crazed, overexposed 16 year olds was a stupid idea from day one. Instead of Clifton hunter being split in to three “academies” according to the location children reside; those academies should be split year 7 and 8, 9 and 10, and 11 and 12.

This would give the 11 and 12 year olds the opportunity to still be children for some time! As soon as an issue arises with the younger kids, they run to their year 10, 11 or 12 cousin/sibling and then that older child hunts down the younger child who is causing whatever issue with their little cousin/sibling and then that child goes to their big cousin/sibling about that year 10, 11 or 12 child and then the two older children argue and fight believing they are protecting their young cousin/siblings and then the younger children still end up fighting and the cycle continues and continues – it is ridiculous!

The schools will have to implement some form of program to teach these children manners, respect and self-control – all valuable life lessons that are to be taught within the home by parents; but most of these children do not have parents who knows these values themselves!

Instead of schools simply suspending students for fighting etc, the students involved in the disputes should be held in school instead of being sent home; all classwork should still be done and the disputing students should be counseled TOGETHER, perform relationship/trust building tasks TOGETHER and complete their assignments and lessons TOGETHER for a set period.

In addition, instead of just dragging away the fighting students, ALL students who egg on the fights and run to watch etc, should have to attend mandatory sessions during their lunch hours that teach proper socialization, instill the dangers of encouraging violence and bring in speakers from the prisons.

These children obviously do not believe they are children and they are already exposed to enormous amounts of material that are not even appropriate for adults; it makes no sense to deny these children’s exposure and it is better to foster open and honest communication with them at all times instead of down-playing the issues and situations that they are well aware exist! If children are allowed to communicate openly with adults and receive sensible, useful and non-judgmental feedback from the listening adult; much of these issues can be combatted and controlled.

There are so many ways to approach this, so many ways that this could be addressed and reoccurrences avoided… but for the children who have no proper adult guidance at home, the community and the Government will have to band together and deal with the parents, the household and the child.

In addition, stop denying that our youth are having sex left, right and centre! Arm the school nurses with condoms, pills, and birth control shots and begin dishing those out in school like skittles to avoid more unwanted teenage pregnancies and subsequent ill-bred children!

Teenage girls that are having sex should be provided with the confidence to speak with an adult, the adults should discuss the issue openly and honestly, guiding the teen to understand the pending consequences of her actions and the dangers she is placing herself in, and then the girl should be referred to a school nurse to receive a birth control implant or shot (forget the pill idea because they will probably not take them) many of these girls try to intentionally get pregnant!!!

The Caymanian culture of denial needs to stop, that is the root cause of these issues! Stop hiding the problems in order to maintain the sham face of happy little Caribbean paradise. We have some real shit that must be dealt with!

    (please excuse typos etc.)

So these statements are to actually mean that the Caymanian kids are nothing but poor unwashed thrash? I am a Caymanian and I had 6 kids and I am very proud of them and proud to say that my kids are very well behaved and very sensible if the were to go anywhere by themselves to act responsible. That is the way I have raised my kids. I have 4 teenagers unfortunatly 1 died due to a medical issue but my other 3 I have not had any problems with them going anywhere an misbehaving. I know it sounds like I just let them out by themselves but thats not true if at least 2 adults are not there then they are not going. I trust my kids and I tell them that I font only want to be their mother I want to be their best friend.

I could see this this coming. For the past few years, Camana Bay has been a wonderful place to go shopping, relax, read a book, get icecream, workout, dine.

Lately, it is sad to see the amount of young ladies (probably less than 15 years old) with their “so called” boyfriend kissing in such a way that they will swallow each others tongue!

They use the dark shadowy areas to hang out and make out, some of them don’t even care to be seen. This is very sad, I am certain most parents do not even know of this. This then results in teenage pregnancy.

Some of these teenages I see smoking, drinking and cursing, they also do not show any respect towards adults.

I hope this no longer happens but fair it will continue to happen as some parents simply do not care!

I am often at camana bay on a Friday or Saturday night and have seen a lot of teens around, but never encountered or saw any issues. They are kids hanging out And having fun so a few bad apples shouldnt ruin that for the rest. It would be great if there were more places for teens to hang out in the evening in a safe place. Teens don’t always want to sit at home with their friend’s and kids from the same school live all over the island so they can’t just walk to a friend’s house to hang. Camana bay seems to be the meeting spot they all choose because there is no other good option for them. In a time when teens spend hours and hours glued to technology, I think it is great to see them out laughing and being goofs together like we were all as teens. The majority should not be punished because of a few incidences. Instead why not embrace them and provide them with somewhere to hang where they can sit in a certain area with musics.

    • 18 year old Clifton Hunter Graduate says:

Wouldn’t this just cause them to go else where and behave this way?

Last time I checked “rich kids” behave just as bad, you just don’t hear about it because of who their parents are.

I believe that your comment was very inappropriate and ignorant.

It is a child’s upbringing that causes them to behave the way they do. It is true that children who are brought up in less Fortune homes can grow up to have certain behavioral issues but so can children who are brought up in wealthy homes.

Instead of leaving comments such as these, you should get off the internet and try to find a way to help these children so all of us can come together and make Cayman a better place again.

I did not grow up in a very wealthy home, but what I did have was someone who cared greatly for me and ensured I was not caught up in anything I shouldn’t be.

I just graduated from Clifton Hunter High School where I had first hand experience with these so called “grubby badly behaved poor children” and found that although, they were “badly behaved”, they were children who were broken and just needed someone to show them that they cared, and most of the teachers there were willing to be that person and stuck to those children. I graduated with some of those children last year, and can honestly tell you that those children are doing so well right now. I see them on a daily basis with jobs and goals that they want to achieve.

All those children need is someone to be there for them and show them right from wrong. If you are not willing to be that person then kindly keep your opinions to yourself.

      Thank you.

It is interesting that so many comment blame the parents for failing to control their children. Maybe they should also identify that many parents are struggling to survive within an economic gap that is getting bigger every day. Most things in Cayman are now priced for the wealthy and many parents (who want to be better parents) are absent at home because the have to work longer to survive.

The school system that we are using has outgrown it’s usefulness and needs to be abandoned. It was created in an era of communities raising the children and it worked very well in that era. Let’s be honest, things have changed. With our parents so exhausted at the end of a day, the children are learning more from youtube and facebook than they are in school or at home. The teachers spend so much time on discipline that they burden the children with homework so as to maintain some random syllabus.

If we want all children to behave equally, then we should ban all private schools and force rich and poor children to be schooled together. I could almost guarantee that this problem will be solved within a few years. Why? Because it eliminates the wealth gap in the minds of our children where they can learn that their happiness is not tied to just their wealth. If we want a better society then we need to prioritizes the idea that the rich and poor children will need to live together as adults. These so called gangs are simply a group of people (or children) who have not yet learnt how to live together happily and care about each other.

If we want Cayman to build a better society and then we need to change how we think about each other. We cannot keep the wealth gap in place for our children and then act surprised when it spills over and then blame the need for more police, guards, gates or better parents. We should understand the pressures on parents and teachers and want to help them rather than blame them.

If you think that this is a ridiculous idea, then I suggest you do some research of the success of Finland where all primary and secondary education is public funded and private schools are banned. Special needs are integrated, homework is minimal and children caring about each other is a course where happiness is a priority. Happy children do not behave like this.

    • Anonymous says:

Combining public and private schools is a terrible idea. Public schools in Cayman are violent and the education in them is nowhere as good as it is in a private school. My children go to Cayman international school and I would never dream of taking them out and sending them to John gray. For what? To have some other child try to initiate conflict with them, or steal their possessions, or any other bad thing that school is known for. Combining public school and private school will only serve to agitate other expats that come to the island who won’t want to send their kids to school in an unsafe environment .

Take note Camana Bay . We used to go to the cinema on a Friday night by boat for a different evening experience and have dinner afterwards. Last time several months ago, we came back to the boat about 11 pm to find 5 Teenagers sitting on the boat, all smoking. I asked them to get off our boat, was met with immediate disregard and largely ignored by the one young man, whose other friends convinced him the wiser choice to do as I asked. They reluctantly left, the young ring-leader attempted to grab my wife’s hand bag as he walked down the dock, but she was too quick for him and pulled it back. They then all left and walked back to the restaurant area without further incident. Our boat was a mess with empty beer bottles and stubbed out cigarette butts on the deck and in the cockpit. I guessed the ages of the 3 boys was in the 14 to 16 year age bracket and the 2 girls the same. A serious disregard by Camana Bay staff and security on the boat dock area at night during this evening in question. I hope it has improved, but by the tone of this CNS article I guess not? Anyone going there by boat on a Friday or Saturday night, be warned. I support another poster to this story of a total ban on young school age children under the age of 18 years at Camana Bay in evening hours, unless accompanied by adult or parents supervising. Have a great evening.

This is sad, but I am not surprised. I just went to parent night at JG and there were only four parents in my child’s class, of twenty students, that bothered to show up. Apples falling right around the tree if you ask me.

    • Jackie says:

      Here we go again!

I am a single parent and from the day I received the news that I was bringing a child to this world, my life as I knew it changed. I stood responsible for my child from that day; no teacher, no neighbour, no friend, no relative…me and God!

What this generation needs to realise is that babies are cute but, then they grow and with that also your responsibility grows. They are not dolls that you dress up and when you get bored, you put it back in the toy box.

I read all the comments and is disheartening beyond comprehension!!

My son went to JG where he was often beaten and his lunch money taken by a bunch of savages, and when I confronted the principal I was told that there was no gangs in the government school and my son was making all of that up. Mind you, he will come home with his uniform teared up and bruises that was always as result of “an accident”; he was so scared of those kids , ( girls included in the bunch too because don’t think that some of them aren’t worse than the boys!) he refused to point them out to me because it will” get worse “for him, and the abuse never stopped, his grades dropped and he became withdrawn. This was three years ago and things are not getting better, to the contrary, its getting worse. When something is going to be done about this? I hope a good child doesn’t have to loose his/her life before somebody wake up to all this nonsense!

Another thing is, you will never see their parents in one of those PTA Meetings, NEVER EVER!!!

Those children don’t belong in society, and not because they were borne that way but because they were wired that way. Stop blaming the leadership/ government! The root of the problem is the poor environment these kids are growing into; broken families and, generational dysfunctionality that unfortunately, the good citizens fall victims of.

Camana Bay is a nice place to relax after a stressful day at work, an excellent family venue but as long as the management doesn’t enforce some strict ground rules to keep the scum out, it will keep spiraling downwards.

From when the older cinema was open, kids would tell their parents they’re going to the movies, and then use that free time to get into trouble, oldest trick in the book. Sadly for my kids, my husband and I know all of those tricks and thankfully for us, we were raised by parents that did not play!

My daughter asked me once if she could go to Camana Bay to ‘hang out’ with her friends, all now she she na went and I can assure you she won’t be going without an adult either.

Parents, please! Stop being lazy and ‘dumping’ them off so you can go to the club or to simply get rid of them. I am so sick of seeing these little bad ass kids walking around Camana Bay with hardly any clothes on, cursing out the security guards and displaying bad behavior in front of complete strangers.

And sometimes the kids are actually from good homes and trusting parents that allow them freedom only for them to be influenced by bad company or they’re just bad when the parents aren’t around. You can’t really blame the parents entirely but parenting does play a big factor in these kind of situations.

Simply do not allow underage kids to be out unattended. Camana Bay is an open and very large location. Not so mention too many dark shadowy areas, heaven forbid something really bad happens.

I am deeply grieved by this, especially since I have two children within one of these High Schools (and I do not even take them to the cinema at all because these days there is not particularly anything sensible for young people to even watch).

Things going through my mind right now: how will my children manage to find work or scholarships in any office within Camana Bay after an incident like this despite the fact they are both excellent students?

How will employers respond to their resumes when they see that they attended either of these public high schools? The overall impression that the public will now have of any student that they see with a CHHS or JGHS uniform on…

My 11 year old daughter told me yesterday that a friend of hers was trying to show her a porn video whilst on the bus-ride home; my children maintain (at the moment at least) a VERY open communication with me about ALL things happening within their school and it is not an issue with the teachers or facilities; it is obviously a problem with these children from home!

Bringing alcohol to school, the boy they saw with the kitchen knife (year 7 student) and showing it to friends, fights and quarrels over “my man”, the year 11 male who told my daughter he would “strip” her if she walked back “that way” (if only she knew who this one was, but God knows I would be behind bars today!), good grief!!

The drama these little children (and yes, they are children!) are pursuing is very highly influenced by everything they are exposed to within their homes and in turn my children are being exposed to it through them and their “wutless” parents, which takes me back again to one of my earlier viewpoints: https://caymannewsservice.com/2016/08/are-these-our-sons/

I am disheartened and discouraged that such things are happening, how can our young people be so aggressive, they would fight breeze for blowing too hard!

This is a disgrace; CCTV cameras need to be checked; cash rewards should be made available to students for coming forward with evidence, EVERY child involved in this should be rounded up, interviewed, placed in to compulsory counseling (with their parents) and fines levied on their parents along with criminal proceedings for child neglect and endangerment for allowing their child out, unsupervised in this manner.

EVERY parent with a child who was there that night should be prosecuted and fined… if the law does not get stricter on enforcing parental responsibility on these lazy spawners this country will continue to decay at the hands of our “future”.

In the meantime I will be over here filling out private school application forms… goodness… I cannot stop reading this article over and over. I am appalled…

Disgrace, absolute disgrace… and I can only imagine the trivial bullsh!t they were fighting over!

Private school kids are no saints—they hide their problems—I see them smoking—hiding in their cars—Seen them hanging around in neighborhoods that if their parents knew all hell would break loose. They can all make the same mistakes, mummy and daddy hide it better for them. Or that isn’t news to the compass.

The biggest mistake this country made was separating them. But hey what if the public school system said–hey your child cant behave—find a private school—now what will these people who all cry about how these children behave do when they realise we are dumping the crap in their yard now. Sitting next to your child in class. Selling him weed in class instead of our neighborhood.

Every action has a re-action. If we continue to tell these caymanian children they cant behave they have no manners and etc—why change—many are living on minimal wages—many have parents who have no manners—But I hope these kids find the right person to lead them and make better choices.

This island is full of Judges. But never enough Volunteers to help. Always to busy. Ive been to camana bay in the afternoon—Large amounts of smart adult women hanging out on the lawn in the restaurants. No job—Instead of judging our children, COME AND HELP US. Many of us work minimum wage jobs in your husbands law firm, or accounting firm. We the secretary cant leave cuz who would answer the phone. So We implore take a break from getting drunk in the afternoon with your friends, and come read to a child in the public schools so you better understand where we come from. Many of these children are loved, we just dont have the quantity of time you have with your children, and many of us eat lunch at our desk.

I have even seen RCIPS officers there from PC to Supt. (Some of which were using drugs and racing too). MLA’s too were there.

Everybody knows this but nobody wants to deal with it.

So forget about it. Stay home were you belong.

Yogi Berra said “you ain’t seen nothing yet”… If “we” family members, parents and government do nothing to address the problem. Wake up folks Let’s work together to find a proper solution. It’s no use trying to close the gate after the horse have already left the barn. We were warned about gangs being formed in the schools and we choose to ignore it and we saw what happened a few years ago.
Government and parents please read and try to save our young people the Lord was willing to save a city for only 5.

Animals do not behave in the way that these feral juvenile delinquents do.

@9:51am – You’re joking right? The children in private schools do not conduct themselves in the same way that a majority of children in the public schools do. They aren’t a bunch of wanna be gangsters.

Yeah whilst you enjoy happy hour pause and take a check but don’t call b4 you do and be pleasantly surprised!

Yup they’re all private school students! We can all figure out why it went silent…..we nah all blind, deaf and/or dumb as you all with your private school students think we are!

If you only knew how many kids are kicked out of the private schools for smoking, fighting and having sex.. & guess where they are then placed because no other school wants to take them.. The public school; bringing all of their bad habits with them. Not saying public school kids are perfect either but the private school kids are surely no saints. And majority of the time they are the “wanna be gangsters” you’re speaking of.

One of the best things about Private Property you can refuse entry. Unaccompanied minors should not be allowed on the property after a certain time.

    • Mokes-for-all says:

That’s ridiculous. My 14 year old son and 12 year old daughter both know how to behave in public, and in fact, they behave much better than some adults I’ve seen staggering away from some of the nightspots in Camana Bay. Yours is a knee-jerk reaction which doesn’t address the real issue – lack of parental/responsible-adult guidance and/or control.

      • Anonymous says:

It’s great that your children are well behaved but they are still minors and should be accompanied by an adult after a certain time.

        • Anonymous says:

The parents of the these children are children themselves who never enjoyed their teenage years because they were too busy being sex slaves. Now we are stuck with the remnants. Grandma or auntie have the trouble of providing the basics while their mothers who are still young hunt more men. It’s a sad way of putting it forth but it’s reality. Often times the children are left fending for themselves resulting in aggressive behavior. They get no attention or love at home so they seek ways in which they can achieve this. Sadly, this is their way – going out and bullying people.

          • George says:

Please let me reiterate that Camana Bay is private property. They can refuse entry. These minors should not be unaccompanied. Maybe a curfew should be in place and any unsupervised minor picked up results in the parents being disciplined/cautioned by the police.

  32. Anonymous says:

Enough is enough!!!! There needs to be a zero tolerance approach to this and the kids and their parents should suffer some serious consequences. If this isn’t shut down properly now, it will get worse and spin out of control. I am fed up with not being able to send my kids anywhere these days out of fear that they get exposed to or inadvertently dragged into something just because there are so many parents on this Island who don’t give a shit. Those parents carry a ginormous chip on their shoulder and only become present when their kids is called out for some inappropriate behavior. Then they have the nerve to get aggressive and defensive.

Please spare me the nonsense about the usual BS excuse how Cayman is still better than so many other places because its not! Pull the head out of your backside! You can be at many other places in the world who has a population of 60,000 and read a fraction of the garbage you have to read here in the news on a weekly basis!

On a side note – he security guards at Camana Bay are not there to babysit a bunch of minors who have not been taught by their parents how to behave. If your kid is obnoxious, rude, disrespectful toward others and in general has no contribution to society, keep his or her ass home!!!!

    • Anonymous says:

@8:30 am – very well said and to the point!

    • CGS says:

If you are a responsible parent, you shouldn’t be “sending” kids to Camana Bay. While I have taught my kids to behave and they have manners and they are not rude and disrespectful I am also mindful of the fact that kids behave differently when they are not in the company of parents and are in the company of other teenagers. Sorry but once my kids are minors, even if they are teenagers, they are being accompanied by me to Camana Bay. If they don’t like it then they don’t get to go. Period. Worked for me so far.

      • Anonymous says:

I don’t agree – there comes a time in your kids life when they are 16 or older where you have to show some trust and faith in them. You can’t sit on top of them until they are 18 or older as from what I have seen, those kids tend to go crazy once they turn a legal age or leave for college, finally escaping the tight grip of your parents. That doesn’t mean that you have to be turning a complete blind eye or letting them roam around all night or letting 12 year old etc unsupervised. But just because you are sitting somewhere at Happy Hour in a restaurant in Camana Bay while your kids meet up with some friends doesn’t mean your kids are not going to sneak off into the parking garage to have sex or do some drugs etc.

And you see, this is the problem with society these days – rather than dealing with those people who are spoiling it for everyone else and putting the foot down, everyone else is expected to adjust their parent and their way of life. It’s nonsense!

Yes our children are like some obnoxious, rude, drop-pants yahyahs as some American children are because we “copycat” everything fr America and add that to the single-parent children created by fathers of every nationality including our own and there you have the perfect mix of mayhem, illmannered, disrespectful and illiterate children! This is the reason at graduation many of children don’t have one pass; they can’t read or write but give ’em 2 mins and they’ll curse yah out and beat yah to boot…… IF as a society we don’t take hold of these ill-mannered and idle children and FORCE thru Courts BOTH parents to mind their creation then we are in dire straits! The Police and Education Dept needs to meet with DPP and discuss new strategies to use the teeth in the new Children’s Law and hold PARENTS accountable instead of us as a society care for their children thru Bonaventure and Frances Bodden Homes! Enough……..charge the parents NOT just the child cause all the heck those same parents do is go and create more! Throw them in prison and make em understand the community will help but we didn’t create that lil boy or girl!
        Enough!!

  34. Anonymous says:

There are cameras everywhere at Camana Bay. Identifying those involved would be easy. Police – arrest them and scare the crap out of them. If any of them do it again, arrest them and prosecute them! You are presiding over a disintegration of Cayman!

    • Anonymous says:

Umm, if they were breaking the law they need to be punished, not scared. It’s a law!

    • Anonymous says:

if minors are involved, shouldn’t be parents also held responsible?

    • Anonymous says:

And put that new Children Law in practice by arresting Ma and Pa with their illmannered, rude and obnoxious child or children!
This has to end or we will burn worst than those cities in USA!
Remember how much everyone one of here including WP, PR and Status Holders LOVE the USA…….oh yes cause thatb why we have our young men now running around with straddled legs and exposed UNDERpants!
So don’t think these lil fops and pissy-tails won’t be copying those actions!
So grab the Ma, Pa and lil rude boy or girl and place em under curfew, random drug testing and community service AND Family Counseling………..That way the offenders are involved in restorative healing and justice!
ABOUT TIME to embarrass those neglectful parents!

  37. MM says:

Sixty young people? You mean to tell me that we can expect these individuals out in the real world within a fee years with this kind of behavior? Where were the parents?

Doesnt Camana have an adults must be with their children at Camana policy?

How did we get 60 unsupervised (no parents or adults in radius) who could have intercepted before this mob formed? I am baffled as to how 60 teenagers could organise, dispatch, call war and riot without any parent becoming suspicious of their child (and many others) storming of…

I know what I wanted to go to the cinema for on weekends when I was in high school, there is no way in hell I am dropping my child there unsupervised. Nope.

  38. Anonymous says:

Well this should be pretty easy to clear up as almost every square inch of Camana Bay is covered by CCTV and fed through their own fibre optic connection to the CCC where it’s watched in real time (supposedly) and more importantly recorded in lovely crisp HD. I hope Mr Dart releases this footage on YouTube so that as a community we can see the future residents of Northward and keep a watchful eye out for them when they come crawling around our neighbourhood like Andre Chase!

  39. Anonymous says:

So one of them was taken to hospital. If witnesses suggest that it was an ‘us and them’ confrontation there were no victims involved so all are guilty of affray (or whatever it is we call it these days) so lets charge the one that we know about – end of story!

  40. Anonymous says:

    Deportation orders?

Cayman Needs a boot camp run by military staff to toss all these delinquent kids in, while their at it, include half the Jokers at Northward for selling 2 ounces of ganja. Break into my house and they won’t need a prison. Our education department is bull*hit. They think that they are doing us a service. The system is failing this country. I feel sorry for those teachers in that number of real dedicated staff, kudos to you for working in hell and getting those that desire an education into shape. Kids at 16 are leaving school, to do what? Who wants to hire a 16 year old, they cant even drive or sign a document on their own behalf. I remember when I was in public school. I had a few great teachers but some were disgusting. Classmates didn’t care about school. They would stay home until the police and social services got on their ass. Which didn’t matter cause the police couldn’t do #hit. Once they dragged them to school they would cuss the teacher and go right back home on “suspension”, exclusion, inclusion, whatever they called it. Please someone hear our cry for help if you are in a high position at education department, don’t sit in your chair and wait for someone else cause they are doing the same. Most importantly parents! Teach your dam kids respect if you haven’t already. No kid of mine could tell me how to run my house or control me that’s bull*hit. Stop taking up for them when their spoiled as hell. To those real good old fashion parents, I respect you as no one learns if they can choose their punishment. God Bless Cause we all need prayer

    • Anonymous says:

9:52 The greatest problem is the parent/parents. The unruly children should be put into a boot camp and the parents given prison terms with hard labour for lack of supervision and neglect of the children.
Stop resting blame on the schools, charity begins at HOME. Teachers cannot raise their voice to those illlbred children, so what miracle are you expecting from the schools?

    • Anonymous says:

I don’t understand how you can blame the education department, or schools for this. These kids were not on a school trip, they were out at Camana bay at night running around. I believe the blame should be laid directly on them and their parents. Some parents have this sickening habits of dropping these unruly kids off on people’s private property knowing full well that they cannot act like civilized people. Also some of these kids just go wherever they want to whenever they want to with out any kind of parental control.

  42. Anonymous says:

    • Root cause says:

No that won’t solve it.. They will go else where, what will solve it is the stop the behaviour all together. How do you do this? Make the parents criminally responsible. Your underaged kid commits a crime you get charged with child neglect in addition to the child being punished for the crime. I saw where the Education Ministry was contacted???? why ???? it was a weekend! Is the Government responsible for these Children 24/7 ? When are the parents going to step up?

      • Anonymous says:

Exactly? Education ministry did not spawn these unruly children. I am sure their children were home or out with their parents behaving themselves. Stop expecting them to baby sit these unruly dragged – up kids and force the parents to take care of them.

        • Anonymous says:

It sure seems to have let a lot of people not qualified to attend government school into them contributing to the problem.
