(CNS) UPDATED: One of Cayman’s most well-known real estate agents has sustained a serious back injury in a fall, his colleagues and police have confirmed. Kim Lund (59), who has been selling property in the Cayman Islands for decades with Remax, the company he co-owns with James Bovell, was injured at his Britannia home on Saturday. His colleagues said he had sustained a spinal injury and on Wednesday was transferred to the US for treatment.

Police and emergency personnel had responded to a 911 call at around 6:00am on 13 August at Lund’s residence, where they found Lund with “serious but not life-threatening injuries” in what appears to have been an accident at his house.

Family members said they greatly appreciated all of the good wishes that were coming in for Lund who was, given the circumstances, in good spirits. They said they were pleased he had been taken to the Jackson Memorial Hospital which they said was an “excellent rehabilitation facility” where he would receive “excellent treatment and care.”

Lund’s partner and fellow real estate broker, James Bovell, said, “The RE/MAX team is a strong group of people who have always rallied at difficult times like this. Everyone at RE/MAX Cayman Islands is praying for Kim and we anticipate news of his progress in due course. Kim is a resilient man and we look forward to his return.”

Both Kim and Ashleigh Lund also thanked everyone for their prayers, best wishes and encouragement.

Cayman should implement a codified real estate system that segregates prime (price wise) beachfront property from that of interior and locally / residentially sought after areas.

Code should include restrictions on residency, nationality etc depending on area.

Financial hubs like London and New York have a real estate market that offers the option of distant living with 1-2 hour commutes within a 100 km radius. Cayman has no such option hence the ridiculous inflation in prices over the last 2 decades.

The only way this box will survive intact is to think outside of one.

    Get well soon Kim.

The Lund report is a self serving trash publication that choked up my rented mailbox as junk mail. I wish him a speedy recovery, but it isn’t a newsworthy story. Far greater tragedies have happened this week that went unreported

Agree..selective reporting of news including by CNS – radio silence about the news that all district health clinics and HSA hospitals in Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac are now Medico Tourism facilities.

I’m surprised the press statement did not also note that there has never been a better time to buy.

Yesterday when I saw the front page of the Compass I was quite happy and proud to see the headlines featuring our Caribbean golden athletes and maybe not as golden, but extremely necessary, an article on the NCL. I thought for the most part the Compass headlines represent! Today’ however, I’m a bit confused…..
Today was a return to the usually “politically provoking” story, except that a space seemed to open up for the unfortunate incident that happened to Mr Lund.

Now I am truly sorry when anyone gets hurt whether it be from armed robbery, spousal abuse, car accident or a lightening strike. But I’m thoroughly confused as to why this story and why the front page. Well some may say, don’t you know it’s the well know realtor and community minded Mr Lund?

And yes I have heard of him and indeed participated in the walk numerous times. But Is he royalty, is he the Governor, a national hero, a past premier, a dignitary….? I’m so confused.

Recently someone I know that has dedicated their life to community got very sick and I was scared that people might only laud her when she dies instead of while she is alive. If I had known how socially aware the Compass was, I would have sent in her story when they called the ambulance to take her to hospital.

My friend has recovered nicely and I sincerely hope that Mr Lund will as well.

I’m sure that the Compass will continue to highlight the shining stars in our community even if they are not real estate moguls who participate in a system that pushes the price of property out of the reach of the majority of the local community.

100% agree with your comments. Be it known this island is based on who you know and who your socializing buddies are.

My friend, you are only somebody important if the leprechaun in the convertible says you are.

Totally agree with you. Just a couple months ago I heard that Matthew Leslie was seriously ill in the hospital and nearly died. Did not hear a single peep and he is someone always plastered in the news for the people he helps and the good he does. I am glad that Mr. Leslie is fully recovered and back at it from what I see in the news. We need more people like him and this lady you speak of. Maybe its because Mr. Lund spends a lot of money with the Compass on those ReMax inserts you find in there weekly. Money sure talks on this island. None-the-less hope he gets the treatment he needs. A bad back is not pleasant.

You obviously have a problem with realtors, and picking on someone whose life could possibly be damaged forever is a disgusting way to vent your feelings.

Blaming realtors for the price of property is plain ignorant, suggest if you ever have a property for sale you ask your realtor to get the lowest price he can.

Why do you write here about Compass ? You can comment on their articles.

    • SSM345 says:

He is Royalty to the Compass because of all the advertising he buys with them regarding REMAX.

Hope all is going to be alright. Kim is a good man.

Kim is a good man my best wishes for a swift recovery

What sick envious low life would “dislike” or “Lol” good wishes being extended to a seriously injured person….?

        • anonymous says:

I think your “good man” was not necessary. As if if he was a bad man, by your standards, he would not have deserved your sympathy.
I never understood this a “good person” thing added to express sympathy.
