(CNS): Three local men involved in two separate firearms incidents all denied possessing guns in court Friday and will now face trial. Matthew Whittaker (25) from West Bay and Wayne Bellefontaine (25) from North Side both pleaded not guilty to having a 9-millimetre semi-automatic handgun along with six rounds of ammunition when they were arrested outside the Fete nightclub on 7 May. Their trial has been scheduled for December.

According to a police report at the time, officers had responded to a fight in the car park at the West Bay Road nightclub and found the gun in the car in which the men were travelling. A trial date has now been set for December.

In a separate case, Michael Jefferson (23), who was arrested in June last year at a house on Hirst Road for having .38 pistol and two live cartridges in his possession in Bodden Town, was bailed until his trial in January.
