Violent assaults at Wet Fete

Cayman News Service(CNS): Police say that two men were injured in separate incidents at the Wet Fete party last Friday, 29 April, and that one of the victims suffered a fractured jaw. The RCIPS reported that officers responded at around 12:30am to a 911 dispatch to the location on the waterfront in George Town, at the old Tower Building site behind the Dairy Queen, regarding an unconscious man near the entrance to the party. They found that he had been beaten and was drifting in and out of consciousness. He was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital in George Town and later released.

Police later received another report regarding a second incident, in which a 22-year-old man was attacked by a group of males, also at the Wet Fete party. The second victim had been punched and kicked, and suffered a fractured jaw. He underwent surgery at the Cayman Islands Hospital the next day.

Anyone with information regarding either of these incidents is encouraged to call George Town CID at 949-4222.

Digicrash and Flown Away should be ashamed of themselves, promoting this garbage.

I take a strange pleasure at watching a species fornicate in public but I prefer the zoo as its not so obvious, and doesn’t raise suspicions in my wife.

Apparently some were feting more than others, like bosses even.

Wet Fete, Jouvert, Batabano, Carnival, Street Dance, anything to keep the public distracted from the important matters on this island. Imagine if the issues that are affecting this island like crime, unemployment, drug-abuse, drunk-driving, corruption, could get the same energy, attention, and government sponsorship, as dressing half-naked and drinking alcohol openly in the streets get. Boy, for a Christian Nation, our priorities certainly are skewed.

Street Dance and reveling on Saturday. Church with liquor breath on Sunday.

And these people wonder why they either can’t find jobs or don’t get promotions at the jobs they have.

Oh but nothing wrong with dressing up as a pirate, boozing and then charging the shores to pillage! That’s way better. :-/

Eh with the amount of MDs, Lawyers, accountants, partners and doctors out there, I think your comment is meaningless.

I always really like to see the Premier showing off his tats and biceps while dressed up like a big blue butterfly. That takes a big man to do that.

And carnival is an important aspect of our culture. Most people might not know it was originally invented in Cayman at Batabano and copied by other islands.

This is very, very disturbing. Cayman is going pear shaped, and the thugs have more power than the RCIP. The police know who this ‘gang’ of losers is, they know where they live, they know where they congregate….and they drag feet, make excuses, and do nothing to detain and charge them. It is sad that I cannot allow my children to attend, what should be a fun and culturally positive event for fear of grevious bodily harm. I know one of the victims, and all I can say is that the police are not doing their job patrolling these functions.

    • Out There says:

There you go again, it’s the cops’ job obviously to parent your children and provide security for every alcohol-sodden private party (why should it be the police on the public dollar that patrols such events, shouldn’t the organizers who are making money off them be paying for security???) where your bad-mannered children go and beat each other up. That’s right, folks, keep believing everything is a police problem so you don’t have to take any responsibility for yourself, your kids, or your “culturally positive events”. It doesn’t sound so culturally positive to me.

      • Ivanka says:

My children did not, and do not attend these types of events. It is sad that we have no real culture as ‘Caymanians’, and we have to import crap like Batabano. But is also sad that my children cannot attend one of the few fun thing to do on this rock, because it is patently unsafe. If we are going to use public roads, and public funds, even tangentially, I, at minimum expect that children do not come home in a body bag. And yes the organizers should provide security, but they will not cough up the money unless forced to do so. Therefore I think your post is beneficial. If any group wants to hold a function in which public land is utilized, they need both insurance and security. I will contact my MLA, and never get a response.

And by the way, Northward is full so the cops apparently have been arresting and charging somebody. CNS posts about arrests all the time. And you can’t just “know” who the bad folks are, you have to actually PROVE something in a court of law in order to lock somebody up. You may want to brush up on the criminal justice system, Kittyboy.

More of that to come this weekend; you can count on that! (Ignorance coupled with Alcohol is a terrible mix)

What I don’t understand is all the people who have kids yet they take to the road and carry on like wild animals? This is an example to set for your kids?

Practically having sex in the street for all to witness?

    locals……no europeans were involved

    • Anonymous says:

Define locals. If a European Caymanian is not a local why should a Jamaican or Honduran be.

      • Anonymous says:

What 12:41 meant by “European” was “no white people were involved” just as they don’t drive around with the bass booming from cars playing disgusting music or throw garbage out car windows into the bush or peoples’ yards or litter the beaches or urinate at the side of the road oblivious to passers by or mistreat their pets by tying them up all day in the sun or (in Cayman at least) shoot each other in the head over drug squabbles or carry out a whole heap of other anti-social and often illegal activities.

Good. You just described traditional Caymanians too, who also tend to do none of those things.

Traditional Caymanians, Native Caymanians, Generational Caymanians, Paper Caymanians and European Caymanians covers all Caymanians or have I left out another category of Caymanian? Caymanian Caymanian?

New type just arrived. E-Caymanians. Version 1.0. Compulsory to drive, emails, review facebook, talk and text at the same time, preferably while drunk or high.
