I remember back in the day many men would drink and go home and beat their wives or girlfriends. It’s no secret people are violent in bars or in their homes when they have a drinking problem. It is just more publicized now due to the internet. It doesn’t matter what ethnicity a person is, it happens everywhere.

It does however matter where the people are from because under our laws (you know, those useless bits of paper that everyone ignores) persons from overseas can be required to leave if the circumstances warrant. By the time you are stabbing people, circumstances warrant, and yet nothing is done.

Our social life is non-existing these days! You can’t go out at night (especially on the weekends) as you have to fear for your life on the roads with all those drunken and aggressive drivers. If you make it to the bar or restaurant, you now have to worry that you don’t get mugged on your way from the car to the bar etc.

But hey – we are not as bad yet as so many other places, right? Wonder how much longer people will use this as their response to this rapidly increasing crime we are all suffering under.

Thanks Mac for your immigration policy!,,,,,

We should think Alden too. He is continuing it by pretty much allowing everyone here to bring in whatever dependents they choose, without proper vetting or even concern as to the burden they place of Social Services, Education, Health, Employment Opportunities, …But at least originally Mac was responsible.

If you employ a Jamaican then you add to the problem. The more Jamaicans we have here , the more Jamaica we become, it’s that simple.

    west indians…..no europeans were involved.

Its the spirit of the pirates in the air. Check it. Stabbings usually are on the increase during these times!

Bananas Bar; where every married man goes to be with a Spanish bar-tender.

Just like Country & Western, Havana Club, Nectar, Dump Road Bar etc.

Might as well have strip clubs for these greedy men and women. Might as well legalize prostitution because it is well and alive in Cayman.

Might as well have fight clubs too! Make money off their rage and ignorance!

Thanks for the tip. I didn’t know about Nectar.

“Might as well have strip clubs for these greedy men and women.”

I gather you haven’t seen *all* of one of the clubs you mentioned.

      • Tweeter says:

Seen um all actually, hence my statement. Don’t take it personally….it’s just the truth.

I could have named more but didn’t see the point, had named a few already.

Yes, strip clubs; might as well. This is basically what is happening in many establishments on the island. You can get a lap dance from a female worker at XXXXXX for CI$25.00. Who knows what else you can pay her for!!!

        Christian Country?

        God fearing people?

We are far from that brother; for every club/bar there is a church within 100 yards.

You can’t buy liquor from a liquor store on a Sunday (only at Treasure Island); but, you can go to church till 1 then drink all day after at the bar!

Let’s stop the hypocrisy and live freely.

Yep certainly in the back room and surprising what public figures you might bump into as well

    • Anonymous says:

Immigration should be able to identify the barmaids/blinkers that are allowed to work here and what they are portraying, is not what was allowed in these islands. Stop issuing permits to them.

The number of stabbings are increasingly alarming in Cayman! It is time for these attackers/criminals to be taught a lesson by the courts. Once they are found guilty, the penalties and sentencing are so watered down to only serving a minimal sentence therefore, it is sending a negative message to the criminals that it’s ok to inflict harm to another human being without any regard for the law and the lives of those they have attacked. Take into consideration how it have also affected the lives of the victims and their families. The trauma of such attacks can impact the victims for many, many years even for the rest of their lives. The thug mentality has to be overcome! Enforce the Law!

Time to analyse to what extent the granting of immigration permissions to large numbers of impoverished, uneducated and unemployed persons have contributed to this rapid deterioration in our community.

Remember when it was fun to hire a bus and do a local pub crawl? Now it’s like “ooohhh will I be a witness to a crime?” Much more exciting as long as you are not the one who gets stabbed, shot, or mugged.
