Accident at Mary Lou’s Liquor Store on the Brac Saturday 28 May 2016

(CNS): A driver on Cayman Brac crashed into a liquor store near the airport Saturday night, destroying the pirate statue that has been outside for many years. Police said that around 8:30pm on 28 May, the man driving the vehicle lost control of the car after turning onto Cross Road from West End West and collided into the side of Mary Lou’s Fine Wines & Spirits, which was closed at the time. Three passengers were also in the car but no one was seriously injured.

Police said the accident is under investigation but no arrests have been made.

This is the second time in two years that a car has ploughed into this liquor store, which is owned by the Tortuga Rum Company. It was also the victim of a burglary in February this year.

Brackers should be shamed of themselves. Bunch of jealous, petty, people who can’t wait to see bad things happen to people. Remember karma and that it can fall back on you.

I guess you’ll see a trip to Miami “reckly” as he needs a new hot ride. Grow up.

In that same area, righ across from the liquor store a car also crushed into the bank sign, insurance paid off the owners to repair the car and now its back on the road. The driver left the scene, drunk and it was never reported. I’m guessing that this person that crash into the liquor store was insured by the same company and NOTHING will come out of this too. But if it was anyone else there license would get taking away and a fine would have to be paid. Waiting to see what will happen. . .

Are the lights still on in the Brac??

Love the fact that everyone ” knows ” who the driver was and alludes to a probable cover up but nobody wants to name and shame..

That’s normal. When a student was caught misleading the government on their scholarship situation nothing happened either.

Name and shame for an accident? From what I understand there was not even alcohol involved so what is to shame? I can’t believe the insanity of these comments. Perhaps an “I’m sorry to hear of your misfortune” would have been more appropriate. What have we become?

Should not only be charged for dangerous or wreckless driving but for endangering a child.

Always spinning tyres and showing off. But of course one of the “privledged” Brackers with political protection. We shall see. We are watching and waiting.

For God sake, who the hell are you all talking about? You’re already posting as “anonymous”; so spit his name out!

    • Gee says:

His son and two other person were in the vehicle. This is an obvious case of carless/dangerous driving, yet no arrest have been made.
I couldn’t agree more, “political protection”.

Car accidents happen every day. If we arrested everyone that got in a car accident the prison would shut down in a day. Seems like this guy has some haters but I’m missing why we should arrest him.

Not only that, but Marl Road has it that his sone was in the car? I REALLY hope not. Where’s Social Services when you need them?

Endangering the lives of children happens on the roads here on a daily basis. Just about everyday I see a child standing in the back seat of a moving vehicle or someone holding a baby in a moving vehicle. Most of the time the adults in the front seats are wearing seatbelts but allow the children to move around freely in the back seat. If I can see this in my limited travels to and from work why can’t the police who are patrolling the roads all day long see it? These are serious offences in first world countries but completely ignored here. It’s only a matter of time before an innocent child is killed in a minor fender bender because they are not in a safety seat.

Hmm…I wonder why no arrest have been made. Why wasn’t he arrested once police arrived on the scene?

    • Anonymous says:

Why would he be arrested? He was not intoxicated….it’s a car accident…how many people get arrested for being in an accident?

      • Jotnar says:

How many people drive off the road and into a store without any other car or circumstances being involved without there being some factor behind it, be it alcohol, drugs or reckless driving. Are you saying the store leapt out in front of his car?

        • Anonymous says:

          It was the pirate’s fault.

        • Anonymous says:

Thank God you’re not a judge bc clearly you would already have decided your judgement before hearing a case. I don’t know the circumstances but unless you were intimately involved in the situation, i.e. saw it happen or in the car, then you don’t either? Just bc it looks fast? You remind me of the commercial where the police officer was giving a speeding ticket to a parked car bc it looked fast…pure ignorance.

I wonder who it is breaking into stores now?!

  14. Anonymous says:

Very curious to see if he will be charged. Clear case of dangerous driving there!

Is the Mustang going to be ok?

  16. Brac Justice says:

Why wasn’t driver of the car named or charged with dangerous driving and damage to property? Political connections and protection at play again Brac style

  17. Anonymous says:

Well, on the bright side, its better crashing into a building than into a crowd, which mustangs are pretty notorious for doing as of late.

    • Anonymous says:

Agreed, this is the only comment that I have seen that is based on fact. Mustangs are notorious for losing control.

  18. Anonymous says:

We’ll be following this closely, Knowing who the driver was, I wont be surprised if its all swept under the rug.
