(CNS): The latest person to fall foul of the Anti-corruption Law and end up in the Grand Court is a member of the public, who was arrested over a petty bribe. Ian Duffell appeared in the Grand Court Friday and denied one count of bribery in connection with an incident last September in which he allegedly offered a police officer a $25 bribe. Duffell, from West Bay, was arrested for possession of a small quantity of ganja near the Marquis Plaza.

According to the police officer in question, Duffell implored him not to go ahead with the arrest and told him he could take the $25 in his wallet, which was all he had.

Following the defendant’s not guilty plea, the case will now go to trial later this year. It was adjourned until 10 June to set a date.
