Cayman News Service(CNS): During a proactive police patrol in West Bay, two men, aged 44 and 45, both from West Bay, were arrested Friday by detectives from the district on suspicion of possession of drugs, consumption, and other drug-related offences. The 45-year-old man also resisted arrest, police said. A spokesperson from the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service also noted that, in response to community concerns about anti-social behavior in West Bay, similar proactive patrols have been taking place around the district.

proactive patrols? or more like profiling of West Bayers who usually don’t resist arrest and they meet quota? Would be interesting to see what other areas or people were ‘suspected’, with such a high rate of Jamaicans all over the island how many are ever arrested on suspicion of ganja?

If they would have regular patrolling of neighborhoods they may actually know what is going on there, what the issues are, who lives there, etc. Dare I say it, they may actually find that some guys are racing their illegal dirt bikes on Hirst Road close to Sunrise almost every day from 5 p.m. onwards.

But if you don’t have anyone out patrolling neighborhoods ever, you of course never know stuff like that!

Didn’t help last night when there was two armed thugs who robbed AlaKabab and other patrons near by. Change the laws and let’s arm the people! Extermination of all who threaten others.

This is opposed to “ZzzzzZzzzzzzZZ, knee jerk, oh oh, wake up we gotta go out on a patrol, somebody just got shot” reactive patrolling.

I stand corrected! RCIPS arrested 2 burglars in West Bay last week and the Courts obtained guilty pleas! Should make for easy conviction!!

Congrats RCIPS, continue focusing on serious crime which is causing the biggest concerns with our residents and visitors.

Errr isn’t that their job! Another farsical day in Cayman. They are still useless ! I have no faith in the cops here and don’t trust them at all.

Are they foxes gaurding the hen houses? What can we expect from them, labourers, gardeners and handy men, who were permit holders. Are they capable of Policing? And remember they were all vetted before they were employed.

Wellll, RCIPS is finally attempting patrolling and “community policing” in West Bay. How “proactive”! But note, they target the simple ganja smokers!! What about the burglars, the bike-riding sexual pervert groping female joggers, and the gun-toting gang members??

Remember, just after his arrival in Cayman a few years ago, Commissioner Baines publicly stated that RCIPS knew the identity of all the gangsters and gun criminals. So how come they’re not being arrested??!!

What is all this cute political speak about “Proactive patrolling”? I thought all police patrolling and operational work was pro-active, that is NORMAL WORK. Why do we have to come up with cute names for normal everyday work functioning. IT IS PATROL WORK! What a load of BS.

And why hasn’t the been done for the past 10 years???? Stop praising yourselves, where i know we are all complaining about the crime, this is your job rcips, this is what you are getting paid to do!!!

What about Rum Point and the Northside area? As a frequent visitor, I must say that it’s becoming increasingly difficult to justify spending two weeks in Cayman now.

    Finally!

Police you know where the drug houses are. You know the usual suspects. Just round them up every night.

Community, for the lesser known locations, give the information directly to the police stations or through the online tipster website. This is also you close family members and friends that know all the pertinent information.

Let’s get the community and police working together.

    Cayman crime solved!

OK.. but these “Crack Farmers” are still riding around day and night with machetes quite visible on their bicycles.
Any logic to that when they are banned from being kept in car boots?
