(CNS): The RCIPS has found and arrested 22-year-old Jonathan Welcome, who was wanted by police after he pulled a gun on officers last weekend and fled. He was arrested for possession of an illegal gun following an early morning operation at an address in Prospect by officers from the Drugs and Serious Crime Task Force, with the assistance of the Tactical Unit, K-9 Unit and CID. Police also arrested a 23-year-old woman and an underage girl at the house where Welcome was found for accessory after the fact.

Welcome had evaded police since he disappeared into the Rock Hole area in the early hours of Sunday (17 April) after he had threatened police with a firearm. Although an armed officer had drawn his own weapon, no shots were fired at Welcome at the time as there was a number of people in the area near McField Square when the incident happened.

Following this morning’s arrest, all three people have been remanded ito the new custody centre at Fairbanks in George Town.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident on Sunday between Welcome and the police to come forward and call Detective Sergeant Andrew Graham at 516-3070 with whatever information they have.

This is. Good reason for the police to start wearing video cam vest.
